Car Written Off - Lousy Deal from LV

You are wrong, and you are shooting the messenger.RedditchResident said:It is very clear that you are not an impartial commentator here.
Good luck. You will need it.1 -
Also remember the prices in the ads are "asking prices", a deal may often be available, especially on an ageing high mileage car which doesn't seem to be very popular. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1

You defend the insurance industry to the death and avoid the uncomfortable facts of the case. Its just a complete coincide that you are up to date on obscure parliamentary proceedings on the insurance industry. I don't think so. I am not entirely surprised. There is not a lot of honesty in that industry from what I can see.AdrianC said:

Whatever happened to the premise that a non fault claim should leave you in the position you were as if the accident never happened? You can't buy a replacement that easily without costs and certainly not at Glasses guide prices. Maybe you should invite LV to source you a replacement!
I had a silly offer from LV once and complained. Didn't seem to go anywhere. Then about a year later, completely out of the blue, they sent me some more money. Very strange way of handling a claim.0 -
Being naïve and unaccustomed to the process I assumed LV would act reasonably. They have been anything but reasonable. I have very little appetite for taking this up with my own insurance company at this late juncture. What am I to do if they just say they agree with LV and by the way you just lost your no claims bonus. Then I get the Ombudsman involved. Again. Eventually I get a reasonable payout. Maybe. These institutions win by virtue of their overwhelming might. In short they get away with it. Its still a swindle. I'm guessing its that kind of industry.0

No, I'm explaining reality to you. It's not my fault you don't want to hear it.RedditchResident said:

First google result, trying to find the "movement" you referred to...

You can complain away with your conspiracy theories but at the moment you're expecting a dealer car with warranty to replace your privately owned, ageing car. I'm not going to the effort of @AdrianC whose efforts you're quick to dismiss but a quick look on Ebay/FB show plenty around your price bracket. Your choice in time/effort vs reward terms on how long you drag this on for.RedditchResident said:

Your NCB doesn't depend on who you claim through, it depends on how the insurers decide liability. The other insurer agreed liability six months ago - else they wouldn't even be talking numbers.RedditchResident said:What am I to do if they just say they agree with LV and by the way you just lost your no claims bonus.
And, yes, they will likely agree with LV on the value. There might be a reason for that.1 -

That's what they owe you. Not a penny more."
And that isn't defending the insurance industry? I am out hundreds of pounds over and above the value of the car. Just one of the uncomfortable facts you seem not to want to hear. What you are 'explaining to me' is what LV would want you to explain to me. By coincidence.
Read HandsonaBush above: "Whatever happened to the premise that a non fault claim should leave you in the position you were as if the accident never happened? Op, but you got a policy for "Market value', you made that decision, most quotes you get show the" value", if you don't like that you shop around and pay the premium.1
