What can I do? Are they taking advantage

 I work at this recycling tip where the public come to dispose of their rubbish, sofa, mattress, wood. Which I will quit because I think I am being over worked and have saved up money.

I do everything:
//////////////
Observe
Assist
Sometimes clean all day
Do banking
Pick up litter
Put fridges in cage
TV in cage put away and paint
Put rubbish outside the tip away
Clean the huge rubbish at the back
///////////////
Sometimes when I stand there he tells me not to stand there but the other guys stand there.

Some of the public say 'why am I the only one working?'.

The other guys do have 15 minute cigar break outside the mobile office per hour. And the other guy just stands there the whole afternoon.

Sometimes all you can do is sometimes stand for 5 mins and walk around. I mean, I'm not an octopus and sometimes you just have to stand there.
//////////////////////
The team leader: he looks around standing by the mobile office and chills out.

His mate: when I see him, he stands by the small mobile office 30 minutes every hour. Yes every hour in the working day for 30 minutes he does seem to stand there for 30 mins by the office.

The other mate: During the last hour, he seems to go into the office and stay in the last hour and he just stands there all day and takes 15 minute fag breaks an hour. 15 minutes every hour has a cigar break and during quieter times he is standing there by the mobile office.

The other guy: he directs the traffic and is only standing there and that's what he has been doing the last 3 months, BUT he is standing there all the time, they say nothing to him. The whole afternoon he is standing there.

The other employee: 20 mins has his breakfast around 11am and also has 15 minute fag breaks every now and again.
They are all employed.
////////////////
I'm the most hard working person there by a long mile as a agency worker. At other tips I am not over worked like this.

Another guy also takes 15 minute breaks every hour and if I do that, they will complain. One guy during the last hour just sits in the mobile office and other guys like I said take 15 minute cigar breaks an hour, I only have my one 30 minute lunch break and honestly they also just stand there, stand by the mobile office even after just looking around the tip.

I am keeping myself busy, however it is too much. I do pace up and down the line, but its too much, so I cannot stand there for even 5 mins and he will say do not stand there, look which I am looking. Honestly, its not meant to be a very hard job, but the way I work at this tip, it feels like a strenuous effort. I am working hard.

So if the team leader tells me something like why am I standing there and looking which is essentially what the job is is he being too harsh? Taking advantage. I'm sure they are taking advantage.

    It seems that you have joined an established setup and, for whatever reason, remain as an outsider.  The others are all mates and probably therefore are dumping the work on you because they get away with it.  It would seem doubtful that escalating the problem through management there would get you anywhere so you basically have 2 options.  Either you carry on as you are or you leave.  Let the agency you work from know why you aren't willing to continue in that job.

    Perhaps you also need to learn the art of appearing busy while not doing quite so much. Or work more slowly while still looking busy.

    If you are quitting it doesn't really matter. Try not to fester with the 'whys' and 'Hows'.
    Move on and don't look back.
    Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

    You've already decided to quit, so why does it matter?
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
  • I wouldn't worry about what other people are doing. If you're just standing around doing nothing in most jobs you'll probably be told to do something, you're paid to work. If the job is too strenuous then you should find another job that's more suitable for you.

    It's meant to be an easy job.

    The other employee the mate just stood by the mobile office all day literally and just stood there even when the tip site was busy.

    Same with the other guy just stood there all day.

    They must enjoy coming to work knowing its a chill out day.
    If I did that they would come up and say do not stand there.

    They are lazy and not doing the work.

    I have been working at this site for time and I'm sure they are taking advantage.

    But I will quit in around 2 months.

    Why are you letting them do so?

    I've got to make myself look busy and keep myself busy.
    Its meant to be an easy job. But they do say something if I stand there for 5 mins.

    I'm looking to clean anything today.

    As I said in my last post.
    The team leader he is obviously not going to do much.

    His other team colleague yesterday literally stood by the mobile office all day even when it was busy and just stands around even on the tip yard where the public dispose their waste.

    And the other collegue he just stands there all day but they say nothing to him. He is just standing.

    Maybe they make the agency worker do the work and have a laugh with themselves socialising. They are lazy and obviously not doing their job.

    They must enjoy coming to work knowing it's a chill out day. Easy money 5 days a week for them.

    Is it a council run tip? If so try and find out the head of department maybe and let them know what is going on.

    I'm not trying to make anyone lose their jobs. Even the next man up knows about this and he sees them standing around.

    But if the manager sees this they could be told off or even the sack. I've seen one manager and he is no messing about. He doesnt talk just looked around seeing everything. That scared them a bit.

    Again the other two employees were standing around again today.

    At another tip site one guy for 2 whole days just sat there watching things on his mobile for the entire day.
    It is council run but there are many tips even 3 in one area.
