I have an update on this! After 5 full days of messages back and forth on facebook messenger they have told me numerous different things. Eventually they confessed that there’s been an error at their end (didn’t explain quite what the error was) and that they have now cancelled the order thus generating an automatic refund. Won’t be convinced until it is fully processed but my perseverance has paid off. It’s a ridiculous state of affairs that it’s taken me this much hassle to get the refund and I can fully understand why there are so many extremely unhappy customers on their Facebook page. I’ve learnt a valuable lesson from all this though and will be getting proof of collection should I ever have to return goods to any company in the future. Thanks for all the input on here guys, it’s much appreciated.
    Paul.

This sounds the norm for Currys, why do people still buy from them?
Looking at posts on this board it sounds like the norm for JL, AO and others as well.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • The OP hasn't really messed curry's around though, have they?  Curry's could simply have honoured the discount code without the OP having to return the original TV and re-order an identical one.  Curry's gave the OP no other option to get the saving.
They were happy to buy something at the published price, they then suffered buyers remorse and decided to take some actions to get it cheaper after they had already purchased it. I would say that was messing Currys around and I generally have no sympathy for Currys.
How can it be classed as messing a retailer around if you are only doing as the law entitles you to do?
If Currys don't want the hassle of dealing with consumers changing their minds and returning goods then they shouldn't be selling online.
'' Well that's what the law says''
150 years ago the law said you could beat your wife, doesn't make it right.
Great post and one I will use. I hope you don't mind.
It's a line from a comedian called Bill Burr. Worth a watch.
