Out of curiosity I wonder if anyone knows what would happens say if you were to clear your throat or cough/sneeze before saying the phrase ‘make me a winner’

Hi Naz, I would hope if it was a sneeze or clearing throat and first thing you said was not hello and you said make me a winner, you would win the cash!

I think the radio station are the only ones who can fairly answer that, but I would suspect that if it was genuine & you then said it, it would be ok … but if it sounded like you did it to stall to see if it was them, then likely you wouldn’t win.
T&C’s do cover saying the wrong thing / saying nothing / phone disconnecting … all of which = no win …

Day 17- 5th ring gent says hello. Presenter says to gent sorry, she is calling from make me a winner and asks gent does he know what he should have said and he says make me a winner and says no problem. 
(£45,000.00p- not won today as a hello and not make me a winner). 
Wednesday’s amount- £50,000.00p

Terms and conditions do state:

In order to win the Prize for the relevant Draw, the randomly selected entrant must answer their phone within 5 rings. The 5 rings will be judged according to the Station audio recording (for the avoidance of doubt the sound of a “ring ring” shall count as one ring, not two), and the first words they speak must be the Winning Phrase, and this must be stated immediately upon answering the phone (for the avoidance of doubt the entrant must have started to speak the phrase within 5 seconds of answering the phone) in order to be declared the winner.

So a sneeze or cough should be ok as you have not said anything, just as long as you dont have a sneezing or coughing fit which lasts longer than 5 seconds!!!

Thank you all for getting back to me. I’m recovering from a cold. If I’m lucky enough to get a call, hopefully I can contain my symptoms in less than 5 seconds.

Carry a piece of paper that says "make me a winner" .  Set an alarm on your phone for 4pm.
