The CN22 declaration form is larger and now has sections to be completed that weren't on the old forms.  Here's a page on RM's site with instructions on how to fill in the form where there is a field for the EORI.   The only fields listed as 'if known' are the commodity code and country of origin.
Whether incomplete forms cause delay or rejection at customs who knows.
Here is their example of a completed CN22

    Get one here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/get-an-eori-number-service-availability-and-issues/get-an-eori-number-service-availability-and-issues
It seems to me that no one will care for a while for smaller parcels going by post, but I'm an idiot on the internet.
As I said earlier I applied for an EORI a few months ago and haven't received. I'm not sure if that's common or if mine got lost in the system somewhere so I'll chase it up and find out.

Thanks. I used smaller CN22 form on self adhesive, from Royal Mail. I didn't filled EORI as there is no space for it there.
But for future parcels I might use what you mentioned.
So, that's done - do I need to keep any separate register of EORI sales, any HMRC website, or anything? Or that's it - use EORI just on CN22 when shipping?

I've had an EORI for several years now as the customs clearance people wanted one for imports from China.  You didn't have to send returns as you would with VAT.  As far as I know that has not changed.

I asked, do I need to fill anything else, anywhere, apart from CN22 and my EORI on it? Or, its as simple as: 1) get EORI 2) put EORI on every CN22 3) job done?

Yes, I think that is so.  The EORI is asked for by many carriers for international items and also as I mentioned when importing.
In practice I don't know whether not including the EORI would delay or even cause parcels to be returned.

  • If you have a UK Vat number your EORI number will be identical but with 000 at the end.
If you ship anything DAP to a business in the EU you need the recipients EORI number.  This will help them reclaim the import VAT back or possibly even defer it if set up.

Some couriers have started asking for the recipients EORI even when shipping DDU.  I was aware that DPD have been asking for a while and I was asked for it by TNT today for a DDU shipment to Denmark.

Watch out anyone using DPD.  They are charging the Import VAT in Netherlands or France and not in the recipients countries.  This means companies pay the import Vat without realising they cannot claim it back from another EU country.

I haven’t used DPD for overseas shipments at all so far this year.  They’ve had way more problems than any of the other couriers.  I’m hearing all kinds of horror stories from other business owners.  It’s a shame as prior to Brexit I never had any problems with them and they were always the cheapest for Europe for me.
