Is Tesla a better investment now it has $1.5B (+20%) in Bitcoin?

Options
So I know what some of you might say (that it's a bubble buying a bubble) but do the open minded people among us think that there's a good possibility large, corporate buys of Bitcoin (copy trading Tesla) will keep pushing the price of both Bitcoin and thus Tesla stock up, or is that unrealistic?

Despite Elon Musk's obvious manipulation through Tweeting about #Bitcoin in the last couple of months, this article suggests that the regulators would be unlikely to succeed in censuring his behavior (or the buys) through litigation. In light of this, I was also wondering if people have an opinion of the corporations most likely to follow the likes of Tesla and MicroStrategy into holding and even accepting payments in Bitcoin?

P.S. I hold Bitcoin and Tesla.

He's equally likely to say he's sold it in 3 months.
I'm holding, the Bitcoin is an irrelevance as far as I'm concerned. It's not even 10% their cash.
Just don't buy Dogecoin, which he also tweets about. For technical reasons, that cannot rise since it's so easy to create new ones

How difficult is it to create Bitcoin ?

There are still 3.5m Bitcoin left to mine. The cap is set at 21 m so there will never be more than 21million bitcoin.

Buy (or build) a miner, join a pool, set it going, it's that difficult.  When someone in your pool triggers discovers a block  you'll get a share based on your contribution.  Whether the value of the tiny fraction of a BTC you receive will exceed the cost of the electricity used in contributing to the mining effort is unclear (especially when the cost of the mining hardware is taken into account).

Or, if you want an absolute measure of how difficult it is, the difficulty of a block on 6th February 2021 was 21,434,395,961,348.

I know that Elon is a bit eccentric, but it seems like an odd move.  Surely he should be doing this with his funds rather than that of Tesla?

I agree, Tesla is not an investment company so taking a speculative punt with shareholder funds seems rather bizarre.

If he wants to play Investment Analyst / Manager he should start his own Private Equity type fund and get on with it, or alternatively, take Tesla private and use it as his own plaything.

Using shareholder funds for a publically quoted firm to speculate is wrong - unless the company IPO propsectus / Articles of Association etc. make specific reference to the fact that arbitrary investments, absolutely nothing to do with our core or even tangetial business objectives, will be made at the CEOs whim with your (shareholder) money.

Pension funds will be invested in this company by virtue of where it sits in the S&P 500. The risk level of those imvestments has increased quite dramatically.

With hindsight Woodford got slated for going "off piste" as his gambles were Lose / Lose. Are you saying it's OK as long as the gambles are Win / Win?

In the absence of an internal PR / marketing department one way of promoting the brand and obtaining lots of media coverage in the process.

Better than the news that Chinese regulators have rebuked Tesla due to poor build quality on imported vehicles from the US.

He has also been guilty of manipulating the Tesla share price. This is something that I prefer to watch from a distance. It's purely guesswork what he's going to manipulate next, as is the direction of the manipulation. The chances are that humble retail investors in another continent will get poorer and he'll get richer if we try to follow his investment ideas.
