needs to go to bodyshop. the door will need to be painted. and who ever does the job will have something to remove whats on the glass.
The spray paint can be removed without having to resort to repainting.

@cookie* there's a number if thing you can try yourself and the golden rule is to start with the least harshest method first, starting with simply trying to clean it off with a good all purpose cleaner and a microfibre cloth. If that makes no difference move on to some isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or a decent auto tar and glue remover spray such as Autosmart Tardis or CarChem tar and glue remover.

From then you could try a clay bar and then a mild compound polish. Obviously if you're not confident of the latter then take it to a bodyshop but I'll guarantee the last thing they'll attempt is a respray.

Ty! I'm sorry to live up to the clueless female image but I really didn't know how to start but the way you, and some others, have laid out how to do things is extremely helpful. Really appreciated :)

I'm far from the DIY type but if nothing else, I'll try to get the glass clean using the tips posted here. Ty again.

You could try some panel wipes available from H******rds, try on a small section first. If using a clay bar, ensure you use plenty of lubricant and be gentle. But, a big but, if while using a clay bar it drops to the ground bin it straightaway.
  • This happened to my sister's car; I managed to rub out the mess using G3 rubbing compound but I guess it depends what they sprayed it with and how good your laquer was. It's worth a try anyway. You can also polish it away with something like 600 grade wet n dry; search on youtube, I'm sure there are videos for this sort of thing.
BTW. some cars have been sprayed near where I live; I wonder if its becoming a new craze.

If its only just happend i would take it for a power wash and see if some comes of as the cold weather may have  stopped it setting properly, and maybe some gentle rubbing with paint thinner and a microfiber cloth.

I rather suspect the OP knows exactly who did it.
we don't have a clue, sorry, not sure why you think we would..if only we DID know!
That's a tag done just for the sake of it rather than any other kind of message.
Was yours the only car or property targeted?
  • Don’t listen to the poster who said you’ll need a respray. You won’t.

I didn't know those things sent messages. To answer you, our car was the only one. They sprayed something on a garden wall in a different colour, adjacent to the car, but it wasn't like the stuff they sprayed on the car. Was just an expletive etc...

God, I hope it's not a new trend. We definitely feel vulnerable atm. We don't have any option but to park where this was done and now we have to live with knowing we could get targeted again. I tried to look into cameras for the car but, this is on the side of the car where the camera wouldn't have a visual anyways.

A tag isn't a message aimed at you. It's purely someone writing their name for fun so it wasn't personal.

If the spray paint said something like Cheater it would probably be a targeted message.

I don't imagine it will keep happening. Your car probably was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
