How can I cancel Virgin Media?

Options
After spending an hour on hold to their premium rate number, I gave up and hung up. I did get through but when I mentioned I was moving home, she insisted I needed another department, even though I told her I don't want to switch, I want to cancel. I then was put on hold again. I want to cancel but I can't find any other contact details at all on their website. Is there any other way I can cancel without it taking hours of my life and running up my mobile phone bill?

Thanks,

Swash

I don't have a landline, I technically have the line but I don't own a phone to plug in, never have.

It's ridiculous that I have to do that though. I can't even find an email address. I will try again on Monday.

    Thank you.

https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/contactus/thinking-of-leaving the 0345 number is normal rate and if you have 'free' minutes will come out of that.
https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/contactus/make-a-complaint has some other contact info... and why not complain how hard they make it to contact them?

  • @Swash I had the same issue so tweeted Virgin Media and got the response below. If you can't have a dialogue with them just write and cancel the contract. Hope this helps.
Sorry you are thinking of leaving us, cancellations can be done by phone 0345 454 1111 or by post Virgin Media Sales Operation Support, Diamond Plaza, Daleside Road, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG2 3GG.

To answer your question, with great difficulty. All I can advise is persist!

My partner recently spent hours on hold, being passed from department to department. One advisor hung up on us, when we made it clear we wanted to leave. Said advisor also lied to us by saying they sent the price rise letter to us in error and therefore we couldn't contractually leave. We also tried to contact them via web chat but the retention team never got through to us after a whole day waiting.
When it eventually became clear that we were leaving and no amount of negotiation was going to change our minds, we were "allowed" to leave. Even after formally leaving, we are getting phone calls almost every day from retention team asking us to reconsider (which usually includes some form of price drop). It's feels like harassment, we've asked them not to call us again.

Our final resort would have been to send a letter via recorded delivery.

If you want to get phone service, you have to start EARLY!! they open at 8:00 AM, so start ringing at 7:55 AM, and do the 'press number key thing' first...
