I already reverted my cards back to the embossed versions (what an effort that was!) as really dislike the printed cards but the design of the new ones look even more hideous - looks more like a card for a child’s account 😳

It's interesting how the NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland web sites are more than a little different.
https://www.natwest.com/current-accounts/existing-customers/new-mastercard.html
https://www.rbs.co.uk/current-accounts/existing-customers/new-mastercard.html
I remember when the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank sites were pretty much identical, apart from references to the bank name. One was cbonline, the other ybonline. NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland even use different words. For instance RBS says: "It’s accepted in millions of locations worldwide, wherever you see the Mastercard symbol.", where NatWest says: "It’s accepted in millions of locations all over the world – just keep an eye out for the Mastercard symbol.".
Just a small difference in wording, but to keep two sites offering pretty much the same products in sync but with different wording must be a policy decision and someone must be sitting there deciding on the different wording. Fascinating!1 -

I'm not sure that's entirely true. RBS branches in England and Wales are being refurbished currently, even when they are more-or-less next door to a Natwest.

Do you think they've done this due to their love of purple chevrons?0
