Tell us about your gas heating please. I presume a gas boiler in the kitchen - but what rooms do you have and have they radiators. Are those radiators turned on ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

My electricity costs 12.11343p per kWh plus a standing charge of 13.2825p/day. Admittedly it's not available to new customers, but do the sums and see how much you're wasting, you're really being taken to the cleaners. Then do the same for that amount of kWh as gas !Not to put too fine a point on it, it's utterly crazy to use peak rate Economy 7 on an absurd tariff for heating when you have gas. You really just couldn't do any worse. That said, the really good news is that you can save a fortune if you get your act together PDQ.0

It cost me £13 to ring them last time as I was on hold for over 2 hours, and I'll have to phone them again tomorrow, they're an absolute nightmare of a company to get in touch with, plus their website is barely working at the moment so there's no online support.Standard unit rate 17.166p per kWh Standing charge 23.779p per day* 0 -
Hide the electrical heater or get rid of it.Go and switch off the immersion heaters right now.Go and turn on the gas central heating right now. Set the operating hours and main thermostat as appropriate to your needs, right now. Turn off radiators that are not needed off or down, add thermostatic radiator valves if not already present.Tell E.On to switch you to the cheapest single rate electricity tariff that they have. Chat is probably best because you'll have a written record. Don't worry if it's a fixed tariff with an exit fee, after you've shopped around you can switch from an E.On fixed tariff to a variable tariff without penalty, and then leave, again without penalty.See how much you can save: don't forget to come back and tell us how you fared.0

As previously stated, use those two comparison sites to compare the annual costs. Forget the rates and standing charges, it's the total annual costs of your annual kWh usage that countsSounds like you also have the word's worst phone tariff. A two hour daytime call would cost me £1.20 on my Pulse8 landline at 1p/minute or £3.60 on my O2 Classic tariff on my mobile at 3p/minute.0 -

MrH86 said:I have gas central heating which I never use. I use a 2000w electric heater maybe 2 hours a day as I don't have a radiator in my room. According to the unit it only uses 37p/hour.2 hours x 37p is actually 41p on your tariff = 82p a day = £24.60 a month just for your heater. As others have said, we would be astonished if it were not cheaper to fire up the gas heating for the same length of time a day and open the door to your room to let the warm air in from rooms that do have radiators.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
