EON are charging me £90 a month for electricity, that seems insanely high to me?
Title, I'm currently paying £90 a month to EON for electricity and it's just too much, and it seems very expensive to me? I just got a quote online from British Gas which seems more reasonable at £49 a month. I've never switched provider before, is it as simple as ordering it on the British Gas website? Will they do everything else or do I need to contact EON as well?

which of these figures is based on your annual consumption? I take it no gas, so electric heating? If so, I'd be more inclined to believe the £90 a month figure.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Were eon charginf you on actual reads. Assuming you do not have a smart meter it is best to give suppliers readings once a month it their system supports it.Did you enter actual reads on BG for the quote? I suspect not with the large difference. The market may give you 10% better if you are on the worst tarrif of some supplier. Possibly more if you go to the small suppliers who are not sustainable. However back to the main point. Did you generate a quote on actual reads and a proper annual usage estimate. If you did not the quote means nothing.0

This can't be right, surely? 017318 kWh is £250 a month.0

Your IHD is showing the TOTAL usage since the meter was installed; that is, the meter reading. This is the meter reading used by the supplier for billing MINUS the meter reading when you were last billed. For example, if on the 1st February 2020 the IHD/meter read 013318, you would billed for 4000kWhs. When were you last billed, and what was the reading? Did it have an ‘A’, ‘C’ or ‘E’ annotation against it?

That's your *total* kWh since the meter was installed; and that's not the meter, it's the IHD. You need to know your annual usage. Do you know when the meter was installed? If you take a picture of the actual meter, see if there is a sticker or card on or next to it with the date and start reading. Check to see if your bills are based on actual usage or estimates. If you've never switched then chances are you're paying an extortionate unit rate, but you need to ignore the monthly direct debit amount and look at the overall annual cost based on your actual usage.

I found the meter readings on my account, do they help? They are from the day I took over the property.0 -
and what about the Gas ? Take care with the meter here you need a screen with m3 on it (if you use the kWh screen with Gas you will get into a big mess very quickly !)Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

What you are seeing on the IHD is the total of the two registers: that is, R1 plus R2. Are you able to read the two registers on the actual meter? You appear to be on a 2 rate tariff?0

I took photos of what I have but I couldn't see anything with the numbers needed for a manual meter reading, which of these many boxes is the one I need to look at?
And my gas is through British Gas via direct debit, my gas bill is always very low as I never use it.0
