A bumpers job is to absorb low impacts. If it's plastic and still structurely sound I wouldn't worry too much about the cosmetics. Sounds like you were lucky if this happened on the motorway.

In France they use their bumpers to nudge cars back and forward all the time

My bumpers have been hit many times and they just spring back out. Wouldn't even think about touching up the scratches

Yes, that’s my view. I was lucky, I heard and felt a loud bang while on the M40, checked my mirrors and a large orange panel van had hit the bumber side while overtaking. No damage to the metal panels, fortunately. Scary though.

Lol. Just sat in the carpark waiting for daughter to have THE JAB and old bloke just hit my rear bumper and just drove off. My bumper is now silver with a hint of red and that's how it will stay if it doesn't come off in the wash

That reminds me that 40 years ago one August holiday we borrowed a friend’s apartment in Rome. All the rich people drove scruffy cars as there’d been a string of kidnappings. Aldo Moro, a former prime minister was kidnapped, and found dead and riddled with bullets.

You didn't even know this large orange van was there?

I knew it was starting to tailgate me, and kept a decent gap in front for safety. I normally get out of the way of tailgaters if very close as they compromise my safety, of course.

    How long would it take?
Drop car off first thing Monday morning, pick up  Tuesday teatime. They use heated spray booths and only need to leave 15-20 minutes or so between coats.

If the car functions normally and passes an MOT what's the point? You can't see your bumpers while you are driving.
