    It sounds horrendous for you!
Could you use a computer / tablet screen for the date and time? Or buy a cheap clock radio that will show it, an Amazon Alexa can display the date and time.
None of that seems any more convincing than the timestamp on the video file itself - they can all be manipulated relatively easily. But it's not as if any of this needs to be "beyond reasonable doubt" anyway.
  • Yeah we are recording now with the tv on and the camera pointing to the date and time on a laptop. Just annoying because the council have mislead us. We have over a years worth of recordings and not once have they said you need the tv on. It's so frustrating. Yeah we will definitely be dropping the price next. Auctioning is our very last and final option.
  • We've had the evidence goal posts moved a couple of times too; but when we've asked them to set out all their rules affecting the evidence we can submit the Council goes quiet.  We've been subjected to serious threats for commenting on planning apps and the LPA approached us to gather info for their breach of condition action (which also left us open to more abuse).  They're happy for our help but when I suggest they take steps to ensure our safety they've got nothing.  The LPA seems pretty toothless; having served a breach of condition notice which was breached throughout the 28 day period of the order they've done nothing else.  If the developer was bribing someone to push through an application there'd be consequences (I assume) but threats with menaces don't matter!
The ASB agencies where we live simply congratulate themselves for moving on town-centre drinkers (even during lock-down! Wow! Good job!) and rough-sleepers but that's about it.  Your council sounds as limp as ours.
  • They are and I dont understand how they get away with it. Also she is a council tenant living in a 3bedroom house by herself as both children were taken which is when the noise started. I feel so angry with myself as we never even thought about next door being a council tenant when buying our house. We were first time buyers and our family only live down the road so it was just perfect and we had lived in the area previously with no issues. The previous owner of the house was an elderly lady so nothing was declared regards to disputes. I wish we had been smarter when buying a house. Everyone keeps saying it wont last forever but it feels like it

The other thing somebody suggested was to go to the media about it but then I definitely wont be able to sell
Do those "nuisance neighbour" programs pay you? If it's several thousand (or tens) that may make up for the price shortfall if you have to go down a "we buy any house" route.  You have my sympathies though, horrendous.

My sympathies, too.  I know only too well what it's like to live the other side of the wall from bad neighbours.  I tried to get help from police and council.  Neither was any help whatsoever.  How the authorities get away with doing nothing I don't know, expecially as I was subjected to extreme harassment, which is a criminal offence.

I bit my tongue, did not complain anymore, did not retaliate.  When I sold the property I answered the relevant questions that there had been a dispute, did not say that it had been resolved, but that I had not complained for several years.  My solicitor said that my answers were appropriate.
  • That must have been so hard and frustrating for you but I'm glad you managed to get out of it. Maybe its something we may have to do but I'm just worried for my daughter I dont even like the thought of her playing in the garden when shes older because of the neighbour. Makes me so sad it's hard enough with this pandemic.
