Poll started 26 January 2021
While most travel is currently suspended due to coronavirus, some have started to look ahead, with a number of holiday firms reporting a rise in bookings for the summer. So this week, we want to know if you've got a summer getaway booked – and, if so, whether you expect it to go ahead.

Looking may the results, I can't decide if it's delusional or irresponsible.0

A lot of people with booked holidays are those of us who moved them from last year. Thinking we were helping the travel industry but now not sure if going to lose our money as the holidays might not go ahead and renewals of insurance don’t cover covid related cancellations, or so they say. It’s unfair of people to presume that holidays booked are new bookings. I would like the government to give a date when flights are cancelled until and then people would know where they stand and could start getting some money back if they can.0

I've kept an eye on holiday prices merely out of curiosity, but I won't be booking anything until things are a lot clearer, the likelihood of actual being able to travel is higher and we understand better what restrictions will be in place at our chosen holiday destination.
I read that a lot of staycation prices have increased massively for the coming Easter Holidays, but I won't be paying those kind of prices for a week away

We had a holiday booked last year which we moved to this year. If we hadn't changed to this year we would have lost all our deposit. Now wondering what will happen as they have had all the money for the last year (if we didn't pay they would cancel the holiday and also keep the deposit) and not sure what will happen this year. If I want to change to next year they are charging £50 per person and will still keep the large amount paid for another year!0

I wouldn't call it "summer" but I have optimistically booked something for November (on a flexible booking deal) - I just desperately wanted something to look forward to. Ideally I'd like to go away in the summer, but I'm not going to book anything just yet. I'll wait until around Easter when we have a clearer picture of how the vaccination programme is going and whether things seem to be looking up.0

Had a holiday booked for March this year to Japan (booked Jan 2020), now been postponed until November 21. Have a reserve now pay later hotel with free cancellation up until the day before. Only thing we will lose is the cost of the flights if we can't go but I am really hoping we will be able to go. I wouldn't be looking to book anything in the summer holidays though, very unlikely things will have settled by then!0

We were booked for June last year, had paid for a non-moveable, non-refundable apartment. The owner was very kind and let us move it to June this year, and has now let us shift it to September. No idea if we will get there then.

I'm not bothering until this is firmly over. Paying for a compromised holiday where things are still closed or only partially operational, you are paying top dollar and getting partial experiences, that's just naff. Save up and get a proper holiday down the road. It's not only safer for all concerned but better.
Might do a couple of UK based mid week night aways, if it gets to a point where it feels like it's safe and responsible to do so, but that is pretty much the limit. 2022 seems more realistic for a holiday right now.
Before covid, I was a big traveller, but I'm not emotionally weak and don't need something to look forward to, so not booking anything until there is a clear path ahead.
Another point worth making is the travel industry brought alot of this on themselves. Their failure to refund or refund promptly means consumers (myself included) are loathed to spend money with them. Package operators can go to the wall as far as I'm concerned. There won't be any tears from me. I'm now far more likely to book things myself, as the protection of booking a package turned out to be mostly worthless like most other travel industry protections. Section75 turned out to be the only reliable thing in all of this0 -

A bit rude
