flapflop said:After a relatively quiet and peaceful day I had a horrible night. My heated blanket broke so I was shivering in bed and couldn't sleep and when I finally did manage it my son woke me up and I was awake for about 3 hours. Definitely will need to nap today. I hate napping but i know that I won't make it through the day without being grumpy if I don't have one. It amazes me that DS can wake up for hours and still wake up at 7am without fail. How is he not tired? Good news though, I woke up to £51 of sales so that can buy me a new heated blanket plus an extra 10 towards PayPal. Yes, the heated blanket is necessary. I already have a thick duvet, heavy blanket and a hot water bottle but I still shiver. I still shiver with the heated blanket but less so.
I think we might be entitled to the green home grant to get loft insulation so that can be tomorrows job. That should help warm this house up.0 -
I used a heated blanket a few years back and just loved the fact that I could pop it on warm up mode about an hour before I got in to bed and it was great, no more getting in to a freezer lol. I don’t use that now though as I needed a new bed and the new bed ended up being bigger.
i do however use duck-down for my duvet and I find that provides me with greater warmth. I’m a stickler for not putting the heating on unless it’s unbearably cold, which happens about twice a year where I am on the south coast.Hunt around for an electric blanket, prices do vary and sometimes supermarkets have them on special offer in the warmer months if you can hold out, mine was a silent night one and couldn’t really fault it.If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

They were selling Silent Night ones in Lidl just before Xmas. I was so tempted to get one but I didn’t. Wish I had now with all this cold weather we are having 🤦♀️0

In the height of summer I often end up just having the duvet sheet with nothing in it with all windows open. Last summer was particularly warm, I think I ended up putting a cold damp towel on my bed at one point! I am fine with both extremes of hot and cold, it’s my hands and feet that suffer in the winter months though! If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

I am fine with spiders, i did have a rather large one that lived under the sofa last year but no idea where it ended up, haven’t seen it for months now so either it had managed to escape or the dog ate it 😂If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

My first NSD. This came about mainly because I was too knackered to go out anywhere. I was meant to go and collect my heated blanket but I was too tired from not sleeping because I was too cold. Idiot. Must, must, must collect it tomorrow. I also napped for about 3 hours because I was awake for so long last night and had an odd dream about mice but I think that is because my son has been watching danger mouse non stop for about 2 weeks. Its actually pretty good. I sold something else for £25 today but lent some to SO so ill get that back in a couple of weeks. Made flapjacks and bread rolls but the Ninja food processor which comes with a dough hook does not like mixing dough, smoke came out the back of it. The rolls were a disaster. I've never been able to make bread. Cakes, no problem. Cooking, fine. But not bread. And I love bread, especially garlic bread. Probably just as well I guess.Total debt at peak 2021 = £38931

I applied for a council tax reduction a few days ago as the online benefit calculators said we may be entitled to a reduction. Today I received 2 letters, one from the benefit office stating that we were not entitled to any reduction and then a council tax bill giving us a £264 reduction. So there's that to sort out.
I feel rotten today, I've started shaking out of nowhere so have just eaten a sandwich, hopefully just low blood sugars. I'm not diabetic or anything but sometimes I forget to eat and get shaky. I'm also very headachy but I had another bad nights sleep. That's because I napped on Sunday. In better news, I have sent 7 items off from Ebay sales today which is about £125. Normally I would get the exact figure but like I say, I feeling a bit pants.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be feeling better and can take a better and more comprehensive look at where I am. I would like to clear some debt but I know that I run the risk of making a mistake so I will wait until I feel a bit more with it.Total debt at peak 2021 = £38931

Right, I've started to feel a bit better so have taken a look at what's going on. I have £7.50 to pay on Next, the Very statement is due 23rd but that should be cleared now and Paypal has £687.39. I have £117.92 to come from Ebay but I'm only going to put £92.50 towards Paypal and £7.50 to Next because we have no money left for essentials until Sunday. I don't mind that really because it forces me not to buy stuff we don't need and we really do only need milk, veg and bread this week.
SO still owes me quite a bit but he will give me that weekly which I can put towards Paypal. I'm looking forward to next payday. Paypal will be cleared (and closed). Crazy to think that this time last month I was planning on paying off Paypal, Simply be, Next and Very but I now only have one of those and the other money can go towards RBS.
I set up a pot on Monzo to put the extra RBS payments into and once a month I will phone up to make a giant payment towards the loan. I did call but they said the only way to do it was by phoning. When I looked online it only really gave the option of paying the whole amount. I wonder if they would just let me increase the DD? Could be worth asking.Total debt at peak 2021 = £38931
