Correct I posted one with a valve and one without.GDB2222 said:
The fold flat one does not have a valve. Surely?Poster_586329 said:
But again those are valved masks, the ones we shouldn't be wearing.superbigal said:
There really is no point the general public contemplating FFP3 instead of FFP2.Poster_586329 said:superbigal said:https://tachpro.com/product/n95-ffp2-face-masks/
Pound a piece is about what you expect to pay wholesale (Plus Vat).
People do need to realize if they wear one to go out for shopping then that is that. Should be binned on return home.
Thanks for the link. The straps on these FFP3 masks look much more securely attached than others I've seen, e.g. 3M:

It's a trade site so their minimum order is 125 masks, which costs the best part of £400.
Still, might be worth it for some people. For example if you're taking the rush hour tube to work on a building site it would be two months worth.
FFP3 should really be face fitted to work 100% efficiently and that itself costs a lot of money.
FFP3 is only really needed by front line health workers and then only in certain circumstances.
Here are a couple of decent examples Jo Punter could buy. Pack of 10 then pack of 20

I also read there is talk of NHS staff needing better PPE, not just surgical masks, in all situations with a possible exposure risk, because of the increased transmissibility of this new strain.1 -
I posted earlier about the valved type FFP2 /FFP3 masks and was somewhat ridiculed as only for painters and decorators really ? And
Chocolate fireguards by one poster, etc. LOL
They now appear to be worn by the Police and as posted the Fire Service. And have also noticed members of the public wearing them as they offer the wearer substantially more protection to the popular blue ones.
They protect the wearer and as long as everyone wears one of these or similar more protection to all.
Yes they have a valve, but what happens to the air exhaled by users of the blue ones, it gets pushed out the sides when they breath in the mask tightens up on the face.
I am now wearing the ones issued to Fire Services personnel!
So sorry everyone who does not agree.
Edit:
Also believe that if every one actually wore any proper type of mask this would end sooner.
People wearing scarves pulled up if noticed and also people who SAY they are exempt, if they are exempt for medical reasons they should not be taking any risks and staying at home shielding. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon2 -
If firemen wear valved masks it's because firemen need protecting from breathing in smoke. But smoke doesn't need protection from breathing in firemen's exhalations!Hasbeen said:I posted earlier about the valved type FFP2 /FFP3 masks and was somewhat ridiculed as only for painters and decorators really ? I think that you have missed the point about when firemen wear these masks. Clearly, not for firefighting.Poster_586329 said:

I hope that all front line worker including care home staff will be given FFP2 masks for not only protecting others but themselves as well. It is shocking to see that some key worker are still using surgical face masks.
FFP2 Masks protecting more against inhaling viruses than wearing a simple surgical mask. Why would Germany and Austria decide to make it mandatory in some parts of the country to wear these masks if they are not superior to the surgical mask?

What's your reasoning for this statement?Hasbeen said:Edit:
Also believe that if every one actually wore any proper type of mask this would end sooner.
Even preventing ALL transmission is not going to kill the virus in asymptomatic 'carriers', so as soon as you sound the 'all clear' masks would come off and transmission would start again.
The only thing that's going to make all this end sooner is either to eliminate the virus completely (ain't gonna happen) or give ourselves sufficient immunity so that the effects of catching it are serious, like catching a 'cold'.
The only thing that's going to do that is a vaccine.0 -
So basically your thinking is if everyone wore a mask it will not end sooner.Mickey666 said:

Ok I agree everyone should stop wearing masks as soon as possible. As it does no good.

Depends on what you mean by "it".Hasbeen said:

If you mean lockdown then I'd say that if everyone wears a mask then it WILL end lockdown sooner. This is because lockdown is aiming to reduce transmission and keep the numbers of infected people low enough to be tolerated - basically, not to overwhelm the NHS.
If you mean the virus itself, then I don't think that if everyone wears a mask that the virus will go away sooner. Indeed, my amateur take on the virus is that it's here to stay, just like the flu virus, which is why I think a vaccine is the only thing that will 'end all this'.
But just to be absolutely clear, I adamantly support wearing masks to reduce the risk of transmission.2
