Pound a piece is about what you expect to pay wholesale (Plus Vat).
People do need to realize if they wear one to go out for shopping then that is that. Should be binned on return home.
Thanks for the link. The straps on these FFP3 masks look much more securely attached than others I've seen, e.g. 3M:

It's a trade site so their minimum order is 125 masks, which costs the best part of £400.
Still, might be worth it for some people. For example if you're taking the rush hour tube to work on a building site it would be two months worth.0 -
Yes, this. The number of people I see walking around wearing "chin-warmers" is staggering. What do they think they're doing? Idiots! They must know they're being prats, if I knew someone who did this I'd ask them.JamoLew said:Probably need to be more worried about:
a) people not wearing a mask at all
b) people not wearing their mask properly0 -
You could say to these who wear mask under their noses “nice nose you have there”booneruk said:

I'm about to buy some 3M FFP3 masks at around £10 each. I'm shielding quite strictly so it is just for unavoidable situations when there is an element of risk - like going for my jab!.

I wear P3 masks from Screwfix.
https://www.screwfix.com/p/trend-stealth-lite-pro-fold-flat-dust-mask-p3/734gx
£7 each at the moment, but they are robust and last eight hours of usage.
They have a valve, but there's a fairly labyrinthine path for exhaled breath to go through, which is better than nothing and stops larger droplets. The alternative seems to be IIR masks, where the exhaled breath goes round the edges anyway. And they make my glasses steam up, so I can't see where I'm going.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
There really is no point the general public contemplating FFP3 instead of FFP2.Poster_586329 said:superbigal said:https://tachpro.com/product/n95-ffp2-face-masks/

FFP3 should really be face fitted to work 100% efficiently and that itself costs a lot of money.
FFP3 is only really needed by front line health workers and then only in certain circumstances.
Here are a couple of decent examples Jo Punter could buy. Pack of 10 then pack of 20

I agree in most situations. However, if you are someone who is shielding/have been isolated completely alone and have no risk of having the virus, you would not be a risk to others and the valves mask would be better than a face covering for your protection. In any situation where you haven’t been shielding / isolated with no contact for weeks/have slack sanitising protocols with shopping deliveries or visitors to your home, then those valves masks put other people at risk xJamoLew said:

Those are the masks that shouldn't be worn. They have a valve which means they don't filter your exhalations. So they are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard! They are designed for painters and decorators etc, not for use in a pandemic where your (unvalved) mask protects other people.
You could (perhaps) wear a face covering over the top of the valved mask. Also some valves masks come with a valve seal/cap.0 -
This guy looks serious! I saw it posted on Twitter. Note the eye protection too.

But again those are valved masks, the ones we shouldn't be wearing.superbigal said:

I also read there is talk of NHS staff needing better PPE, not just surgical masks, in all situations with a possible exposure risk, because of the increased transmissibility of this new strain.1 -
The fold flat one does not have a valve. Surely?Poster_586329 said:
