MET parking fine
Lloyd1969
Hi this is my first post.
I will try and keep this short after reading newbies section and think ive got it, but would like to check & thanks to the team for info on there.
Bought old car, got parking fine through post 3 months later from a London fuel pump service area 30min overstay.Took 8 weeks for log book to come back through post registered to me on Day of fine!
I can't appeal etc. Because never seen original MET letters from 3 months ago.
I don’t want to drop the previous owner in it as he was very ill at the time of purchase, hence sale of his Old car, but I assume he may have received the first letters as the old car would have still be registered in his name at this point?
Anyway due to the above & the 3 MONTHS later!! MET services have passed dept onto DRP who then must have re-applied to DVLA and got my address.
Thanks thread and prev posts, recommending NOT to contact and ignore DRP as you won’t get anywhere etc etc.
Just keep a look out on a direct court letter if it comes through? (Have you a copy of this to make sure i dont miss it or a link)
Just want to check not missing anything?
Thanks

Thanks thread and prev posts, recommending NOT to contact and ignore DRP as you won’t get anywhere etc etc.About it.
Just keep a look out on a direct court letter if it comes through?Have you a copy of this to make sure i dont miss it or a linkGoogle search 'N1 County Court Claim', then hit 'Images' to reveal what one looks like.DRP who then must have re-applied to DVLA and got my address. They can't have done this. They will have used a tracing agent. Nothing to write home about, fairly common procedure. Unless you live in a tent on the top of a mountain, you can be easily traced. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.#Private Parking Firms - Killing the High Street3 -
Drp are forbidden from contacting the DVLA more than once , same applies to the parking company too
As mentioned above , a tracing agent was responsible for tracking down the address3 -
Thank you👍🏻

Or, the previous owner passed on your details after being scared by the letters. But if that happened, then you'd expect to have been sent a PCN to appeal, in your name. This is odd though, because surely it must be that the previous owner gave your details, otherwise they wouldn't have your name. They must have started off with his name.
In that case, then I say again, MET should have sent you a PCN to appeal and they didn't.
So, complain to the BPA about them not sending you any PCN or giving you a chance to appeal. DO NOT SAY WHO WAS DRIVING. Complaint portal to the BPA for general issues like this is on the BPA website but they will have expected you to first complain to MET. So do that, even if you send them a letter snail mail asking why you were never sent a PCN at all after the old registered keeper named you as the new registered keeper.
Tell MET, if they fail to send you a PCN and to give you a chance to appeal, plus all the images of the alleged contravention, you will complain to the BPA about them. Give them a set time limit to send you a PCN to appeal - e.g. 14 days is reasonable - after which you will complain to the BPA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You know what date you bought the car and you know the date of the alleged parking infringement. Therefore you are not dropping him in it just making sure the correct person deals with it.

It is not a fine, please read the newbies. Have you complained to your MP?You never know how far you can go until you go too far.2

Thanks for above comments. MP a good point.Much appreciated.2

Thanks for all the above advice and newbies thread info.
Just noticed this on something i read on a legal website ref DRP & just a thought. (Not that concerned as great advise on here don't correspond at all with DRP)
Send letter ONLY to DRP like this:-
'This is the first i have heard of the alleged dept and return this to your client'.

No that's pointless. DRP won't return the case to their client because self-styled parasite 'PCN debt recovery' is (shockingly) completely unregulated.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
