As do all wholesalers and manufacturers.MattMattMattUK said:
All retailers charge as much as they can get away with, if you think otherwise then you are incredibly naive.lemondrops69 said:The bit that annoys me is that Tesco seem so proud of their selves, 'look we price match to Aldi prices, so please shop with us'. Its almost like they are doing us a favour. Obviously before price match they were just ripping us off and charging as much as they could get away with.
Whining about 'rip off' prices is a bit silly since following that to its logical conclusions you are basically whining about your own pay packet being excessive.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!2 -
I think you missed the point of what I was saying, yes of course they can charge whatever they like, but dont act like they are doing us a favour by lowering prices, they are doing it because they are losing business. Maybe thats not the message of the ad but thats how it comes across to me. And yes I might be a bit naïve, sorry it comes with being young, hopefully I'll be wiser when I'm as old as youMattMattMattUK said:

I think the vegetable offers at Tesco are very good (with the Clubcard). I buy what the have on offer that week and can always have fresh fruit and veg. e.g. avocados 45p, onions 45p a bag.1

If not, what possible relevance does it have? and why did you feel the need to even mention it?
IvanOpinion simply stated that you were wining and there was nothing stated or implied about your gender.7 -
Indeed. Is that price-matched Tesco chip or a value Aldi chip on her shoulderDiddyDavies said:

I wasn't actually replying to you, and even then would have no idea which of the 71 genders, recognised by Facebook, you would identify as. Good luck with your studies ... it must be difficult in the current climate.lemondrops69 said:

No, in some of their many adverts they just compare a basket of branded products at Tesco with a basket of cheap own label ALDI stuff and have successfully done that for ages enabling them to claim a big price difference when there would almost none or potentially they might be more expensive if they actually compared their own label prices with the cheapest Tesco own label stuff.daveyjp said:The reason Aldi haven't changed their price is because they don't spend millions each year on marketing and adverts telling everyone they are price matching!
(part of the recent basket compares their Wheat Bisks with Weetabix a saving of over 66% - there is zero saving if the own brands are compared)0 -
Not sure what you mean by inferior, why did you say that, is that what you believe? Is was more to a stereo typical comment than anything.DiddyDavies said:

Not sure what the issue is here? I just said I didnt think the Tesco was pitched very well, to me it seems they are trying to make out they are doing you a favour. Then I get a lesson in economics and business
Maybe its the grumpy old man syndrome, or is that just stereo typical? Chill out guys
Anyway I'll leave you to your grumblings, stay safe0 -
