Supermarket Price Matching. Is this a scam!

I purchased from Tesco Hazlewick Crawely before Christmas 1kg pots of 0% and full fat Greek style Yoghurt, their own brand. This has a price match quote on the price label matching it to Aldis at .89p. A week or so after the tesco's brands went up to £1.15 and due to trying to shop locally i assumed that the Aldis price had risen to as they still had the price match on this. However, going into Aldis i discovered that their equivalent 1kg pots were still .89p. I took a photo of the Tesco pots and raised this with their Customer Services on line. They offered me a 52p voucher (which does not cover my out of pocket costs) and said they would sort this with the branch and apologised.
However, yesterday when I went in to tthe same Tesco branch the yoghurst had been priced at £1.25 with the same Aldi price match. I raised this with the Manager inside the shop who said they would phone me and again apologised. When I came home I went onto the Aldi web site and put in 1kg Greek Yoghurt and this is still .89p. I am concerned that Tesco's are using a lot of price matching with Aldi's which is incorrect and all though this may be on one product it is unfair to consumers.

When Tesco started this "Why shop at ALDI? Our prices are just as low[*] ..." campaign for store-brand/value-brand items, there were posts on here like yours, expressing doubt on the veracity of the claims. Now they've upped the game and extended it to big brands too, I'm not surprised there are still -- inaccuracies, shall we say?
They probably don't expect people to go checking these things, and those that do and catch them out -- they pay off with a voucher (as above).
I suspect it works out that they still win!
[*] On selected items. Not that item. Prices may have been checked by numerically challenged. Local offers for local people only. Offer not available on days ending in Y. Just shop at ALDI, to be sure.

Just shop at Aldi but use Tesco for what you can't get at Aldi.3

Where's the scam? Tesco refunded the difference didn't they?
As for "out of pocket costs", does anyone honestly think a shop would, or even should, pay for someone to drive around all the other shops in the area to check their prices?8 -

What price do you match?
We do not match against any promotional prices in Aldi stores and/or online. Pro-rata Aldi price matched considering the product’s size.
Where can I find the price-matched products?
The products we match will vary by week. They can be found in selected larger stores but not in Express stores or in NI stores. Our products’ availability varies by store. All products are subject to availability.

The reason Aldi haven't changed their price is because they don't spend millions each year on marketing and adverts telling everyone they are price matching!1

I also think very few people actually take the time to check and request a price match, so its one of those things that sounds good but doesn't actually happen that often.

The bit that annoys me is that Tesco seem so proud of their selves, 'look we price match to Aldi prices, so please shop with us'. Its almost like they are doing us a favour. Obviously before price match they were just ripping us off and charging as much as they could get away with.1

Different retailers may have different selling prices but these prices will be based on what their experts have deemed to be what their particular target markets will be willing to accept.
