Neighbours Using My Bin Without Asking

Hi All,
Just need to check whether I'm being unreasonable. I bought my house just over a year ago & have gradually noticed more & more that someone is using my bins for their rubbish. Not even normal household waste, things like clothes/ curtains/cushions etc!! They did it last week when it had snowed, so I saw footprints from their house to my bin & back.
Anyhow, it's happened again today & they've filled my recycling bin so the lid wouldn't close & it doesn't get emptied for another week.
In a fit of frustration, I took their bag out, dumped it on their garden & left a note in my window asking them not to use my bins.
Anyway, I'm just wondering if this is weird behaviour from my neighbours or am I being unreasonable???

I’d say they are the unreasonable ones. You may have to get a lock for your bins or keep them at your house until bin day.5

Is it not possible to store your bin somewhere else then wheel it out? Or is this a terrace house and no where else to wheel it to?
A lock on the bin might be an option.
I think I would have gone to see the neighbour in person to return their rubbish rather than dumping it and leaving a note...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)3 -
I could move the bins round the back, it'd just be a pain shifting them & putting my rubbish out. Think the lock is a option.
I just think it's weird that they do it & I'm sure she sneaks out i the middle of the night to do it!0 -
I'd move your bins out of her way!
Are her bins full and she has no space left?1 -
Go and have a conversation with them.
It's rude of them not to ask but dumping their rubbish in their garden isn't any more polite.8 -
I wouldn't care about the odd bit being added here and there (as long as the right bin, ours don't get taken if there's the wrong stuff in them), but continually doing it and especially doing it to the point where you can't use it yourself isn't right.2

Her bins aren't full. Last time she put a bag full of clothes & boots in my bin, 2 days after they'd all been emptied!!
I've never come across anything like this before0 -
Communicate! What is the point of escalating a neighbour dispute? Yes, the neighbour is out of order but dumping her stuff on their garden will just put her back up (rightly or wrongly) and things will escalate.Suggest reasonably that you have no objection to the odd item if her bin is full, but that if she has large amounts of rubbish/recycling that her bin cannot cope with she should go to the tip.Bake a cake and take it with you when you go round to speak (socially distanced of course)4

Does she think your bins are her bins?My neighbour leaves her extra bags by the side of her bin for the seagulls to tear up even though I've told her a hundred time to add it to mine if it's empty!1

It is odd and antisocial (and how cone she has so much rubbish?). I would ask nicely to ask you first but my guess is she will just ignore you. At that point just get a lock0
