Getmore4less,you are right. The free data on the sim counts as being used,so you will never need to make a call or send a text every 6 months. Like iv said b4,the data reward sim acts just like the normal three sim, plus it still has the 321 rates. The only thing it doesnt do is voicemail.
What's the betting that Three notice this loophole around the price increases and stop the 321 rates on the data SIMs too?

I'm pretty sure I've just been charged 4p for one short sms on my legacy data reward sim. But that doesn't fit either the old rates or the new rates. It was too short a text to be a double text charge, and i checked my balance before and a bit after.

Could it be that the older data reward SIMs are only on the 3-2-1 rate for existing pre-paid credit, and the 10-10-5 rate will only be applied for newer topups?

Yeh...they're possibly reading this thread..........When we were RandRing in Tescos years ago, we used to pass deals round via PMs, and only reported them on line when the deal was almost over, Tesco were reading all of our forum posts.

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Did you still have any remaining credit before you topped up? If you did and you still have any of that credit remaining that maybe why it's still 3-2-1. I sent two texts over the w/e,  one from my MBB Data Reward SIM, the other from my standard phone 3-2-1 SIM, both texts were charged at 2p.
