Am I being discriminated against?
Comments

Are you being discriminated against? No, you're clutching at straws because you didn't succeed in getting the job.
You should only love your employer when you are self-employed.2 -
Is this the boiler firm that has you flying all over the world (from your other threads)
Someone had a moan at another poster for highlighting the age thing and accused them of being arrogant
Reading the OPs other threads/replies I would think those accusations should be directed to one person only.

Are you looking at the same OP? I looked for other employment threads but couldn't find any.Your cryptic comment is a bit unclear - are you agreeing the OP seems arrogant or disagreeing based on other threads? (I'm really not clear what you are trying to say...)1

Page 1 - Post 5 I think it is that criticises the first reply for concentrating too much on the age of the OP and accuses the poster of being arrogant.
I in fact agree with the first response from Jamlew
Maybe I am just misinterpreting the criticism of him/her
I 100% agree that the OP has a very high opinion of themselves
you are right that the OP hasn’t posted in this section before - I was reading through some of his (?) previous replies to other threads
OP def has a bee in their bonnet about his age or has a “problem” with older folk1 -
I must admit, being somewhat critical myself of the OP's apparent attitude, I did wonder what I would have been like 40 years ago. There but for the grace of etc etc...

OP - you should read through some of these replies and take note. There is some really good feedback of how you come across and ways you can improve for the next opportunity.0

OP, there's no evidence of any unlawful discrimination in what you have posted.
You could ask whether it is possible to get feedback on your application, and what you might need to change / improve to be in a stronger position next time a similar role comes up.
You can also talk to your direct manager in your next appraisal about carer progression, make them aware that your are interested in moving to more senior roles and ask about feedback to help you achieve that.
I do think, reading your original post, that it is probable, as other posters have said, that you come across as cocky or arrogant at work so it may well be worth you reflecting on how others may be seeing you, and also think very carefully about any feedback you do get in appraisals when you ask about moving to more senior roles.
It's possible that what you see as not sucking up to others comes over to others as being difficult to work with, disruptive, or having poor judgment about others - which may be much bigger problems in a senior role, especially if it would involve you leading or supervising others, or having to deal with external clients or contractors. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
You don't seem to have any strong grounds for age discrimination and it would be hard to prove - unless they have directly said something to you or their advert stipulated something like 10 years experience (which you would unlikely have die to your age).
Sounds like you have a good case for a complaint / grievance for unfair process though if you applied with a week to spare and were not considered.0 -
How is the process unfair? Management didn't consider he was promotion material, that is their prerogative. They know who and/or what they want, he just didn't fit the bill, they breached no protected characteristic.avawat20 said:

Just submitting an application doesn't give an automatic right to anything.
Just because it's submitted with a week to spare likewise
There is no case (unless the OP has omitted some relevant info)2
