Stuck with useless Fibrenest internet on Persimmon estate

Does anyone who owns a Persimmon new build know how long it takes for Virgin, BT etc to become available on developments?
When we bought the home 6 months ago we had to sign up to their crappy Fibrenest internet service. It works ok but the box is hideous and it’s about £10 a month overpriced. We were told that within a year or 2 other options would be available.
Has anyone experienced this and how long did it take?

I thought fibrenest lock in period on estates was a year , but alternative suppliers are dependent on the actually wanting to supply the estateEx forum ambassador

VM would need to cable the estate .Put your postcode in a few FTTP providers and see if they are able to supply .( if Persimmon have released the line that is )

It’s not just VM that would need to cable the area, but Openreach too, if it were an ISP that used OR that you wanted to use.
The roads and footpaths are private property until adopted by the local authority, until then no one has the ‘right’ to put any services in the footpath, it can take a couple of years after the development is finished before this adoption happens.
The existing footway joint box lids ( where the duct runs from , to the houses ) will have ‘FibreNest’ on them, and as they don’t have to allow other networks to use their boxes and duct, like Openreach have to, there is no chance anyone else using them unless the law is changed to force them to allow access0 -
Key here is how long the Fibre nest exclusive contract runs for .Seen a number of articles regarding people buying such homes and failing to see they are locked in .0

Even when any lock out has passed, it doesn't mean the other providers will rush in, they will have already planned their roll out programmes and may not see these areas as a priority.0
-
Infrastructure in place so no need to rollout .Code Powers granted by Ofcom 2019 .((At a later date, it plans to introduce wholesale access to its electronic communications network to enable other telecoms providers to offer retail broadband services. The Applicant stated that it would consider requests for wholesale access to its duct infrastructure once its housing developments are completed and the roads and footpaths have been adopted by local authorities. )

Assuming by "the box is useless" you mean the WiFi hub, you should be able to just buy a new Netgear or similar and upgrade the WiFi yourself.
As it is fibre to the premises broadband, if you aren't getting the speed you are paying for then complain, the speed is largly only dependant on what you pay.
It is very unlikely that Openreach or Virgin will come and cable your street as a priority as you already have access to fibre to the premises broadband.
At least with Openreach though it isn't a monopoly, although they own the cable, BT, TalkTalk, Sky and more can all provide service on the cable. Sounds like Permisimion are operating a bit of a dodgy monopoly.0 -
