Mail forwarding is nothing to do with using an email client installed on your computer to look at emails.

My emails are sent to Gmail then auto forwarded to Windows Live Mail, the email I received said this function would stop unless I upgraded to Pro.

Do you have Gmail forward your emails to a Windows Live (Outlook) email account? If so that is email forwarding.  Why would you do this though?

Or do you mean you use the Windows Live Mail email software on your computer to read the emails in your Gmail account?  This is not email forwarding.

I have Gmail and Yahoo accounts, several years ago I set them up for incoming mail to be forwarded to Windows Live Mail, there is a procedure to do this. so when an email is received by Gmail or Yahoo it is immediately forwarded to WML. I do not open Gmail or Yahoo mail very often, but open WLM every day, I prefer to use WML as I do not like the interfaces of the 2 accounts.

If no one else received same email,(unusual), then it looks like a fake/scam email and I will just see how it pans out.

I am not entering into any more re WML as it has nothing to do with the original OP, that was about Google stopping mail forwarding.

It has everything to do with the original OP, we are trying to work out if you were even actually using email forwarding. WLM isn't an email address, you cannot do email forwarding to it. You can set up your Google account within WLM (pop/imap), but that is not email forwarding and would not be impacted if Google did decide to stop the forwarding service.

Or you can just be dismissive with people trying to help you

WML is not another account, it is a client on your PC which logs into Gmail/Yahoo and downloads the mails to your PC.

It is so may years ago that I did it I cannot remember any details, all I know is I received an email purporting to be from google saying forwarding was being stopped from some time in January 2021.

I have had emails forwarded from Gmail and Yahoo for many years each and every day, and am quite happy for that to continue,

Or maybe I am wrong as I do vaguely remember pop/imap being used.

So apologies if I have got it mixed up, but I seriously thought I had mail forwarding.

I think we can see what's going on now.   You are forwarding mail to WLM.  BUT WLM is just the program - you will have an email address set up there e.g. derrick@hotmai.com OR derrick@outlook.com (it could be any email address at WLM).
Yahoo have said they will stop forwarding.
Gmail have NOT said they will stop forwarding.
A picture of the left hand side of WLM might give some clues....   e.g. this WLM program has 2 email address - BT and live.co.uk

The OP needs to update not only his email client, but, more than likely, his operating system.

Using an email program to access email accounts is not email forwarding.  It is just accessing the accounts with a dedicated email program instead of logging into the website version.

Only have "Gmail and my username" at that point at left hand side of WLM.

Can't see where to put general location in profile or if it even matters.

Don't see why I need to update my mail client when it is working and I am very happy to continue with it.
