    hi all.

I'm in a bit of a pickle. and apologies if this is in the wrong place

I'm trying to do a flannel handbag for my niece etc, and cannot find a template anywhere, the one i got just doesn't seem right - can anyone suggest any templates?

    thanks

    emmy x

what does this look like ?
have you seen a pic of it
    somewhere ?

    .
    :j:j:j
  • ok, i've now done one handbag, took me nearly 2 hours lol!

the handbag itself looks ace, but its the wrapping of the clingfilm i can't get right. I just can't get the sides done, and then it looks horrid from behind :/

    anyone any tips for me?

    thanks :)

    xx

interstiing to hear how you ot on at the
Summer fair.I used to do a stall quite a
lot in the past.I always thought that the
summer fairs were a bit of a let down,

from a selling point.the ones that were
the most successful were the ones leading
up to an occassion for example mothers
    day,fathers day,easter,christmas.
because the people who attend these fairs
leading up to what ever occassion it is
go with gift buyin in mind ,summer fairs
they tend to go because its a cheap day
out with the kids and nothing particular
in mind.they dont tend to spend a lot

on these ones we would do a massive
lucky dip a long line of baskets with
    each one titled,girls ,boys ,dad,mum,gran
    grandad,toddler ,baby girls and boys,
cats, dogs(because they often have a pet)
teenagers girl & boy.Everything came from
jumble sales, charity shops anywhere we could
get bits and pieces cheap.people chucking stuff
    out.

20p a dip we used to clear around £200 to
£350 dependin on the fair.if you are considering this
for next year, get round all your friends, relatives
and neighbours and ask them to keep all their christmas
wrappin paper afer they have opened their parcels
no matter how torn it is.We built up a good reputaion
for doing this and would see a lot of familiar faces
at each event. as people recognised up from other
    events.

The good thing is you broke even and still have stock to
take you onto another sale, you should see if you can get
a stall somewhere localy to boost your profits.
Thanks it was the xmas fair made error:rotfl: .Really like your ideas.

it all looks lovely, you should do well
I must say the reindeers with the green
and red antlers look really good.
plus its so much easier to find
    red and green pipe cleaners

hope the fair goes well, let us know
    how it goes.

Thanks, we actually have 2 fairs now!
the school christmas bazaar (always ridiculously busy) and the towns late night shopping event (normally very busy... but it depends on weather)

Im quite pleased with the reindeers, i need to do some more though, only got 6 at the moment... and have no idea what to charge for them! any ideas girls?

we made 50 bags of magic reindeer food last night, and did the labels for snowman soup and jars of nothing, the heat sealer arrived this morning, so we shall be having a play with that later,
we have 2 weeks til the first event.... better get organised! :D

We found here localy that people
tend to look on the last weekend
in november and the first two
weeks in December as good for
    christmas fairs,any later and they
    were not as popular.Also sometimes
you can be too early, perhaps sometimes
in the school ones where you are up
against craft stalls that are run by the
school itself they can afford to undercut
you on price and nick all your ideas for
    future events.

best venues for us seemed to be craft fairs
in community centres or at local flea markets
where you have little competition as everyone
is mostly selling bric a brac, your kind of looked on
as a bit of a novelty. We also found that scented
candles were a good little seller.we used to buy
large packs of scented t lights and split them into
packs of ten,you find that unscented t lihts in 10
or 12 sell well too.Because if they have bought
an incense burner or little candle holder elsewhere
very often they are looking for t lights and dont want
or cant afford to buy a large pack.

Dont forget the pocket money kids bring to these
fairs if there is anything you can do a smaller version
    of,it all adds up.

Another thing we used to do was buy chuppa chup
lollies and sell them 10p each.mainly because the
sweets on sale in these places tens to be the
cheap kind and a lot of parents prefer to buy them
for their kids than a 10p mix.

little things to draw people closer to your stall
so others will think ooh what are they looking at
    and come and look too.

there is so much stuff to tell so if anyone has any tips
get on here and lets here them.

    another handy one get there
    really early,take an extension
    with you,an electric lamp
    and some fairy lights.
try to get a stall near a socket
if your a bit too far away use
your extension and light up your stall.
If you dont get in first someone else will.

see if you can get an room spray
    something that smells festive and
spray the front of your stall when you
get a lull spray some more or have an
oil burner going.a nice smell attracts a
lot of people .I always use
a sheet on the table that reaches the floor
as it hides boxes and extra stock.

You can get some very nice battery operated lights that dnt cost that much. How about getting some fresh cinamon sticks and have them near by.
 Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.
