Not only missed the delivery slot but missed the day!

Their tracking web site is rubbish as is their app. It gives me conflicting information.  Today it said my parcel was out for delivery and that it was also at the depot!  It can’t be both!

Sent me my 1 hour delivery slot after the slot had ended.

They are impossible to get hold of.

Never had a problem with DHL either - been very good.
I can't remember who it was but I remember one company whose 'guaranteed next day delivery' meant 'Thursday'.

I used DHL loads on the run up to Christmas (probably 15-20 parcels sent split 50/50 between them and UPS due to the 50% off Paclink deal that was running at the time.
Every one was collected from my address on the day arranged and every one arrived next day despite the simultaneous royal mail "crisis" that was going on at the time meaning that even my special delivery parcels were sometimes taking 2-3 days to arrive.

But then i suppose there can always be one rogue depot / delivery driver.

Thank you for the comments.  I can believe that many people have a good experience with them as the reviews support that.  It can only be that my local depot has a problem.  I wish I could find a way to raise it with DHL but, like many courier firms, they are impenetrable.

The worst delivery service has to be Hermes. They lost two of my parcels before Xmas. You cannot contact them and speak to a warm body - they have a “virtual assistant” called Holly that just gives you the same information that is on their useless tracking website, any messages left are ignored. The tracking website is not updated - one of my still missing parcels from 21st November still says it will be delivered in 24 hours. Letters to the Hermes head office are not answered, this is not a nice company and there are many details on Wikipedia. I will no longer buy goods that use Hermes as their carrier.

With many courier companies the quality of service comes down to the local depot or even the driver who works that route. Whilst some seem universally bad (Yodel and Hermes) others are almost universality good (UPS, who I use for work to deliver all over the UK) whilst others can be intermittent or highly regional in their service quality (Royal Mail and DPD).

I send hundreds of consignments a month for work, most with UPS and some with Royal Mail as Special Delivery. On average I would say I have an issue with UPS 2-3 times a year, with Royal Mail about once a month even though they only represent about 10% of the consignments. Incoming deliveries from almost all couriers apart from Yodel and Hermes are great, Yodel seem to fail to deliver in about of third of cases and are always at least a day late, Hermes always deliver but are always 2-5 working days.

I guess for many it really is pot luck as to what your local driver is like, but you also get what you pay for, there is a reason that some providers are cheaper than others.

I’ve found out that DHL consists of several companies.  The part I’m dealing with, I’ve learnt, is DHL Parcel UK (formally known as UK Mail).

Did you send the items or purchase them? If you are the buyer its not your problem to chase Hermes, get the vendor who arranged the contract with the courier to solve it.

This is the second package that has not been delivered by your driver from Sky.

The first package was as you state was out for delivery on 3rd December:

    Your parcel: ‍15500133079124

Greg will deliver your Sky parcel

    TODAY

    3rd December ‍202

    between

    16:12-17:12

Because the driver was not willing to wait until the existing box was disconnected he left without making the delivery.

It then took until 17th December for the return to show in the Sky system and as the system would not allow a replacement box to be issued until it showed that the original box had been returned. The return was logged at Unipart Group Ltd on 11th December.

I did not request the box be returned to Sky.

On the 17th December the second replacement box was showing on the DPD system and was out for delivery on 18th December:

    Your parcel: ‍15500133091091

Greg will deliver your Sky parcel

    TODAY

    18th December ‍2020

    between

    17:28-18:28

Your driver arrived and advised that he was not waiting if the box was not ready in under two (2) minutes he was leaving.

I asked him for the package, he refused and I went to the sitting room to collect the box to be returned.

The driver left having not made the delivery and in less that the two (2) minutes he had advised.

Please note that I did not refuse to take the collection.

I did not request the package be returned to consignor.

I did not request the package be returned to Sky.

While I appreciate we are about 30 miles from Dundee, the time was allocated by DPD, I did not make any request for a specific time.

I do not believe it is acceptable for your delivery driver to make a demand such as he did and certainly not in the aggressive tone he did.

I further do not believe it is acceptable to just drive off having failed to make the delivery.

Please advise how I should make a formal complaint regarding the delivery service and the driver.

Result - NO response to my complaint.
