DHL delivery problems

  • What’s DPD got to do with DHL?
  • I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say DHL have only one star on Trustpilot and terrible reviews. I don't know how they've stayed in business. They failed to collect my parcel from the sender and when it was eventaully collected it wasn't delivered. There is no phone number to ring, only a tracking number. The tracking number stopped giving updates so I contacted customer service. The parcel was lost. When it was rediscovered they claimed it would be delivered. I'm still waiting. It's not a cheap item and it was specially made for me.It was supposed to arrive before Christmas. It's 29th December now and I'm being fobbed off left right and centre. A terrible company to deal with and I would steer well clear.
    Don't mess with pensioners.

@mrsyardbroom DPD is only as good as the self employed individual driving the van.

That person is the one you are angry with - anyone with a driving license/vehicle can be their courier - so if your area's driver is a less than businesslike individual that's the service you'll receive.

If they're someone with a good, strong, work ethic then that's the service you'll get from him/her.

If they don't update their devices in a timely manner you'll always have an inadequate tracking system.

Like many here I've always found DHL to be "the best of the bunch".
But a few days ago an ebay vendor sent me a tracking number.  When I eventually used it it was recognised, but the only information offered was:
    origin: UK
    destination: UK
    expected delivery time: YESTERDAY

nothing else.  That's weird and a total waste of bandwidth.

I can only guess that DHL have a range of services, and my ebay vendor chose the cheapest, where tracking only shows after it has delivered (works for Royal Mail !) and the DHL van will visit my street only when one of my neighbours has a package using a more expensive service.

    UPDATE:
Three days after I received the tracking number the tracking page sprang into life, telling me the package had just been collected from the sender.  Now it's at the delivery depot.  So if they hadn't yet got the package, I'm wondering why the tracking couldn't say so ?

The problem I have with DHL is the local delivery driver leaves the parcel on the pavement outside my house (door opens onto street). Really unsafe, plus there were delivery instructions to leave round the back - a simple case of going through the nearby gate and leaving at backdoor. Also never waits for an answer, just leaves and runs. I have sympathy for the pressure these drivers are under, but on the other hand I also don't want my stuff stolen from the path.
