Do you get a different list when you do separate suppliers - then add the totals together and see if they are cheaper than dual fuel.milgo said:@mazibee This would be difficult to do as the rates that suppliers provide do differ depending on where in the country you live. So what might be cheaper for someone may not also be cheaper for you!
Can I ask which comparison sites you have tried so far to arrive at Octopus 12 M Fixed being your cheapest quote, please?Octopus 12 M Fixed is not the cheapest, but to me looks like a its bit reliable and established as compared to the others I have listed above ( showing me approx £200 above of saving)

As this is essentially a money saving site we look for the bottom line - if that dual fuel, fine; if it's separate suppliers also fine.
You seem to have made your mind up re Octopus 12M - then go for it.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Sorry for any misunderstanding , I have not made my mind for the duel fuel.

I'm currently with Avro for dual fuel and was also with them year before last. I've not had any problems joining or leaving them. In your case, they certainly look to be a fair bit cheaper than Octopus0

- Go for the cheapest supplier regardless of reliability/ratings
- Switch to the cheapest supplier that has average ratings
- Choose a supplier that has good customer service, and pay more
Your cheapest are Utility Point & Avro, both with average ratings (similar price to cheapest separate suppliers). An extra £20+ per year you could try the relatively new but with so for pretty good ratings Green. If you want the 'reliability' of a big six supplier, you'd need to spend an extra £180 per year, and that added cost would also get you the Octopus 12M fix. Unfortunately its not a great time to switch if you want the 'reliability' of a big provider or great customer service from Octopus, as prices have crept up a lot through Dec/Jan.0 -

The other option is to go for one of the variable tariffs instead of a fix, and see if there are better deals available in the spring, but as they are variable they could go up, as for example Brewer20 has just posted about for Igloo Energy. Though if that happens you are free just to switch again to another supplier.0 -

On leaving them for a different supplier last time round, the final bill was created in 4 weeks and was accurate. The small credit was returned to me 5 or so days later via bank transfer.0 -
I've had an account with Utility Point in the past and am presently with Avro for the second time. My British Gas smart meter has been 'dumb' for several years, but I prefer to keep an eye on things myself anyway, and submit my readings every month, in response to a reminder email that Avro send. I wouldn't hesitate to sign up with them.
I have a dual-fuel deal, as I have yet to find separate deals that are cheaper.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660
