I can get 4 pints of Adnams from ASDA for £6. Think I'll pass.

I order this last year, and am starting to think I shouldn't have.  The beer tastes nice to be fair, but their customer service is somewhat poor.  That might just be because they're busy with orders.

I've only placed two orders, and both have been sent to me late and 'incomplete', and I have had to follow up with them.

I think it works out about 5 litres an order, and the beer/cider mixes are £10-15 a go, so £1.14 to £1.7 for your own fresh pint.  The first few work out a bit more expensive as you need the Pinter as well.

  • Kombucha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kombucha is apparently the in thing, its huge in the USA and gaining in popularity with younger people in the UK.  Maybe try that rather than traditional beers/wines approach.

yes apples for cider. pears for perry. my mate and I were going to build a cider press at one stage, but like so many other schemes dreamt up in the pub over a pint, it never happened.

I think the OP means investing in companies that make home brew kits. I would think it was rather a niche market and that you would be better off investing in small brewers and distillers. The craft beer market has been exploding, as well as gin and apparently rum is taking off. My local brewery is in dire straits due to lockdowns but some are doing well on the strength of mail order can and bottle sales.

I have been tempted by a home brew kit, get drunk for three months or longer and get sober when the poop storm is over. However, the prospect of ending up obese, with type 2 diabetes, liver disease and alcohol dependency put me off. I've cut down my beer intake to Friday evening only as the ice rinks are shut, so no exercise.

As a previous consumer of home brew kits and stuff, I'd say swerve this. I could be wrong but I reckon they have declined in popularity. I had some pretty good success with them mind, especially a rather nice Belgian triple made with Belgian candy sugar!

If we're talking 'lockdown' investments I'd look elsewhere... I wanted to get a rowing machine in late December due to getting a bit more cash, 15 week waiting list from Concept2!
Lockdown combined with new year and the usual demand for gym membership surely means stuff like sales of kettle bells, dumbells, fitbits etc will increase?
