The new lockdown criteria. What does this mean for those who are due to complete this week?

things should continue as normal - but expect solicitors to use it as a reason a go even slower than usual2

“There are further reasonable excuses. For example, you may leave home to fulfil legal obligations or to carry out activities related to buying, selling, letting or renting a residential property, or where it is reasonably necessary for voting in an election or referendum.”2

I am selling my house and had 10 people coming to view this week. Sadly that obviously now means all my viewings will be cancelled :-(0

Apart from potential buyers cancelling viewings because they are scared, viewings are allowed to go ahead. From the guidance at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home?priority-taxon=774cee22-d896-44c1-a611-e3109cce8eae under "Moving home":Doodles said:I am selling my house and had 10 people coming to view this week. Sadly that obviously now means all my viewings will be cancelled :-(You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary. Estate and letting agents and removals firms can continue to work. If you are looking to move, you can go to property viewings.

Cancel the viewings! We were told the last lockdown created more demand and resulted in higher house prices. Hold on and watch the price go up!!

That was the SD holiday, higher unemployment is going to create less demand IMO.0

One thing to be aware of - friends/family outside your household aren’t allowed to physically help you move. Professional removers are still allowed to work, so you may need to use them if you were DIYing it but relying on others to help.0
