Like many others, my main review is monthly when I update my spreadsheet, but I also have a very small "play pot" that I dabble in individual shares with, and I keep a browser window showing their activity open but minimized all the time and glance at it two or three times a day - literally just for a couple of seconds unless something deserves my attention.

Once a week, after the LSE is closed to track, generally one or two deeper looks per year to consider whether rebalancing is needed.

Shares every day, SIPP once every quarterly if that out of curiosity and not for balancing

Several times a day and the spreadsheet monitoring the SIPPs and the ISA get pending/paid dividends/trades updated when they happen. I love spreadsheets.
  • Every day for me as well, but I seem to avoid the urge to trade after checking as I've only conducted a handful of active trades this year mostly in April and May.

My spreadsheets to check whether I'm on track get updated once a quarter.

When I was invested via an IFA I only used to get a statement every 6 months & there wasn't, as far as I could tell, a way to see any gains or losses of my funds online. It just showed the current value of each fund.

However, since changing to self managing about 18 months ago & realising that gains & losses were detailed by each fund I held on my new platform, I started to check almost every day, especially when some funds dipped during the intial stages of the virus. Seeing those losses highlighted in red was unsettling, but I let things be. Now each fund I hold has made good gains, I'm more inclined to only check once a week. Ideally. I'd like to try to train myself to checking just once a month.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Would have like a poll but do not seem to be able to set one up.

I am new to investing (last few months) but seem to check into my accounts at least twice a day and sometimes more :o

I have my pension with Vanguard and get annoyed it is only updated once a day! :D

My ISA and stocks are with IG Trading which is updated in real time and I find it fascinating - is this because I am new? How often do you check your portfolio?
When a crash occurs, I avoid looking at my investments until I think the bottom of the market has been reached, and then I usually buy more. I didn't buy any funds this time, and I didn't look at the value until the late summer.

If you invest for the long term, the value day by day does not matter. That said, I do normally check often, too often!

  • Every morning when I get to work, I check to see how the London market has opened.

Depends what you mean by check. I download portfolio dividend data on a regular basis for spreadsheet entry, when I do that I don't sit there looking at numbers while chewing my nails, no matter what they're doing. There's no point.
It is what it is, will be what it will be, the decision making for what that's worth, comes later.

I check once a month, unless anything has happened to make me take some notes and/or reinvest released cash.
