How often do you check your investments?

Would have like a poll but do not seem to be able to set one up.
I am new to investing (last few months) but seem to check into my accounts at least twice a day and sometimes more
I have my pension with Vanguard and get annoyed it is only updated once a day!
My ISA and stocks are with IG Trading which is updated in real time and I find it fascinating - is this because I am new? How often do you check your portfolio?

If you are investing in individual shares then you need to monitor the share price constantly. I use alerts. Prices can move very quickly within a trading day. Particularly if you are considering buying or selling a certain stock.

I have my pension with Vanguard and get annoyed it is only updated once a day!Vanguard use FNZ as the software supplier and FNZ support live pricing of assets. If you are not getting live pricing then its either because Vanguard has disabled that configuration or you are not investing in assets that have live pricing but are only valued once a day (like UT/OEICs).
How often do you check your portfolio?About once a year unless an alert triggers telling me otherwise.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Far too often!Retired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."3 -
I monitor a handful of small companies in which I hold shares early each day. I note the share price in passing but am really looking for company announcements at that stage of the day and may then go back later and read any wider news which effects the company. I visit the chat rooms daily but don't contribute. Share prices of small companies go up and down all the time, so I only really pay attention to the share price if there has been a particularly large movement either way.My main portfolio is largely (and increasingly nowadays) ITs. and I only really look at it when there has been a large movement in markets.0

Too often,
advice, chillI choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
I note the prices once a week. Mainly just to track value rather than inform sell / buy decisions. Pensions funds the same but I check overall value allocation once a month as I adjust the destination of my monthly contributions whilst I am rebalancing.
I enjoy playing with spreadsheets so it's almost a hobby.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
I go through phases. Sometimes I'll check it a couple of times a week, sometimes I ignore it for a month or two. I only own funds so I don't need to check them regularly.
I have a rule though that I only make changes once a year. If I didn't impose this rule on myself I'd be too inclined to change my strategy constantly, thereby hurting my long term returns.1
