Brother Printer Driver

I'm used to a HP Laserjet, but Windows 7 appears to be a supported OS for that model of printer, so shouldn't be an issue with the installation. Normally for me it's just a case of using a PCL driver
Normally for any drivers, I don't like using MSI files because I've had issues where it can't install media due to lack of disk space, or permissions to a temporary directly.
I would recommend extracting the contents of the file manually with 7-zip and installing it that way, but it looks like the files have an encoding through the MSI (or still compressed) (eg CHM files are CH_, DAT files are DA_ etc)
That should be the correct link for the drivers (https://support.brother.com/g/b/branch/downloadhowto.aspx?c=gb&lang=en&prod=dcpl2530dw_eu&os=10043&dlid=dlf103411_000&flang=4&type3=405)
Filename was : Y17C_C1-hostm-F1
And for your printer the driver is called -
"Brother DCP-L2530DW series" = BRSPL2530DW17A.DSI,USBPRINT\BROTHERDCP-L2530DW_SFFCA,BROTHERDCP-L2530DW_SFFCA
Consider looking at the event viewer on the computer, it might explain the reason why it's failing to install a bit better
FWIW - I always had problems with printers after upgrading Windows. My old Canon MP180 was designed for Windows XP, no official support for Windows 10 so I had to run it in compatibility mode. I liked it, was good and reliable. I just use a HP Laserjet 4350 for everything now.
EDIT - Just a further update. The driver folder contains a few .INF (setup) files for installing the drivers. The USB port driver appears to be file brpom17a.inf but it doesn't contain any setup information your make of printer.
There's a file for Plug and Play (brprm17a.inf) which contains the information about the driver I mentioned above. If you want to manually install the printer. Extract that folder, and either right click on this file and click install. Or go through the add printer wizard, and try choosing this as the driver fileOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

I ran through a quick test and it seemed to install for me using the above drivers doing it manually. Since the printer is already installed via USB, it should just be a case of choosing "update driver" when it says the driver isn't installed and manually selecting the fileOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Gillor said:Thanks @Lil306. Can you check the Brother driver link you suggested as it seems to be to be dead

If not - try this one (https://www.brother.co.uk/support/dcp-l2530dw/downloads). You can select the operating system from there. The file I tested with was the one called (Printer Driver & Scanner Driver for Local Connection)Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Fyi this latest links seems to work .. or at least it does give a web page where it asks you to agree to a EULA to download something. I think the problem with your previous link was that the closing parenthesis was included in the link.

Oops! My fault. I did include the brackets. Thanks for pointing that out.0

Thanks for all you helpful suggestions but still no success - still getting the same error messages. Probably something extremely simple but I still have it at the back of my mind that it may be a Windows 7 problem, a left-over or deletion from some previous programme installation.
Anyway I suppose that if anything, the one good thing to come out of all this is that it has given me the stimulus I needed to upgrade (!) to Windows 10.

For my Brother Mono Laser Printer I ended up simply using the Brother iPrint app on my Android phone. The printer is a fussy beast and even connecting it to the WiFi was a real PITA0
