How important is a garage?

If that house has 5 bedrooms, they must be the size of box rooms. Don’t look at the number of bedrooms, that just tells you how many walls in the house. Look at the total footprint and that house looks tiny. I would avoid.0

The dimensions are in the listing.sst1234 said:If that house has 5 bedrooms, they must be the size of box rooms. Don’t look at the number of bedrooms, that just tells you how many walls in the house. Look at the total footprint and that house looks tiny. I would avoid.
Not quite box rooms but none of them are especially large. Their biggest bedroom is around the same size as the smallest one in our 3 bed semi. That's the joys of new(ish) builds for you.
In answer to the original question, not too bothered about a garage for keeping the car in but I do value it for storage/work space. The absence of a garage isn't a deal breaker but is definitely a negative.0 -
If you need 4 beds why were you looking at the 3 bed house in Everard Rd. Admittedly it was a lot cheaper than this one.tink_1983 said:Evening everyone,
We are on the search for a house. We need 4 beds and ideally a garage for the kids bikes / garden kit etc.
Would you take a house like this and build a shed ?

They have converted the garage into a 5th bedroom with ensuite which is great in some ways too.
But is no garage a deal breaker?
Looking for other perspectives as between me and my other half we have gone around in circlesIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Same here - when we moved we had to make sure it had a double garage to fit his bikes in - nothing else mattered for himMFWannabe said:It would be a deal breaker for us as the OH has motorbikes 😂
If it was a choice betweenness with or without garage I did definitely say with. I have no idea where we’d put everything if we didn’t have a garage
Also when you’ve had a garage and then not had one you really miss it

garage for me is a must have. not somewhere to put fridge/freezer that doesn't work any more,or other junk. but somewhere to put the car and also work on it. thats what garages were invented for.0

Just about the first thing we did here was build a triple garage. I still need more...0

I've come to the conclusion that outbuildings space (and outdoor space in general) is more important than house space.
I have about 230m2 of outbuilding space, including a double garage/workshop . . . all of it used.1 -
With the bikes, tools, a small workbench and all our camping gear our small garage is full (and full of stuff we use, not junk). I’d struggle without one - I’d need a shed at least 8x12 ft as an alternative.0

The 4th would be used as a home office.. it's an ideally 4 beds for that reason. But we manage with 3 beds and the dining table now.lincroft1710 said:

But the wfh is looking to be long term now so while we are looking its worth factoring it in if we can.0
