How important is a garage?

In London you'd struggle to find a garage able to house anything bigger than a postwar bubblecar.

That particular conversion wouldn't appeal to me. Perhaps as a playroom with handy downstairs loo/shower (although you already have a downstairs loo). I would much rather that particular house have kept the garage and yes it would put me off buying.
Not saying a garage is essential, I've only had one house with two garages, none of the others have had one. Often, the 'junk' really doesn't need keeping. But I don't believe converting it to living space necessarily adds value.
If it were a 2 or 3 bed semi, a garage would have been a bonus. I certainly wouldn't pay more than the price of an equivalent 4 bed house.
Each to their own though.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*1 -
