How important is a garage?

Evening everyone,
We are on the search for a house. We need 4 beds and ideally a garage for the kids bikes / garden kit etc.
Would you take a house like this and build a shed ?

They have converted the garage into a 5th bedroom with ensuite which is great in some ways too.
But is no garage a deal breaker?
Looking for other perspectives as between me and my other half we have gone around in circles

One of our main consideration must have double garage and we have always stuck out for that. Would never look at a house without garage.2

There is a metal shed at the bottom of the garden.
This house has a lot of ground floor space.
How much room to you need ?

We have double attached garage so handy for storage and activities that you don’t want in the house or even storing cars.
Got a couple of small sheds for garden stuff would want space for decent sized shed if no garage.
That house garden looks small and not clear if there is any side access to get stuff in/out of the garden without going through the house.

I wanted a garage but the bungalow I'm buying knocked it down to build the extension. It has got a waterproof shed for all those things you can't put in the house - could you make do with a shed?£216 saved 24 October 20140

We would be wanting a garage on our next purchase to fit a modern day car with space to get out of it. Personally I'd rather detached on the driveway but realistically I think we will end up with an integrated into build of the house.
We don't have one where we are now but we wouldn't compromise on our next purchase as we will intend to be there for the long haul.
Probably wouldn't use it for the car but I would want to be able to if needed.1 -
I'd prefer a garage, especially if the house was intended to have one. There's always the issue of how well insulated/soundproofed a garage conversion has been. Does the garden have any direct access? If not all the dirty bikes (and garden waste) need to be dragged though the house each time.

There is access around the other side of the house to get to the garden.getmore4less said:We have double attached garage so handy for storage and activities that you don’t want in the house or even storing cars.

I think we would miss the garage too tbh.

I think we could, especially if the loft is boarded for other storage.youth_leader said:I wanted a garage but the bungalow I'm buying knocked it down to build the extension. It has got a waterproof shed for all those things you can't put in the house - could you make do with a shed?
Guess I'm used to the convenience of a garage0 -
It would be a deal breaker for us as the OH has motorbikes 😂
If it was a choice betweenness with or without garage I did definitely say with. I have no idea where we’d put everything if we didn’t have a garage
Also when you’ve had a garage and then not had one you really miss itMFW 2026 #5007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00
