Declutter Challenge 2025
DH declutter challenge award 🏅⭐️10 -
My HHC turned into nearly 2 hrs - have managed to:
empty DW
do 2 loads washing
hang out 2 loads washing on airer
put away basket of dry washing
clean 2 toilets
clean 2 sinks
clean shower
clean bathroom floor
done the ironing
harrassed 2 children to gather their dirty clothes
had lunch
Made a radical decision - to throw out all the odd socks. Some of them had been in the odd sock box for years, fed up looking at them.
Having a sit down now with my cross stitch.10 -
Dailies done. Also did a workout, had a shower, took DH to docs and had a socially distanced chat with a friend while waiting for him. Had a lovely walk in the sunshine with the dogs. I am currently in the midst of packing Christmas away.Spend less now, work less later.11

Morning all, and welcome back to returning Flyladies [waves]
Most of the snow has gone, the sky is blue with the odd fluffy white cloud, the sun is shining, it didn't freeze overnight, and - most importantly - the roads are clear, I got up early and did a big food shop (my first for 2 weeks) to re-fill the fridges and cupboards, but when I wanted to get some birthday cards from the PO there was an enormous, very slow-moving queue, so I gave up and came home for my late breakfast. I have put everything away neatly and tidied round - will do a proper clean tomorrow. I have also FUPA some of yesterday's washing. Meanwhile DH has been to the leg ulcer clinic, which was understaffed and running very late. Amazingly, he thought to ring me to explain!
We've had lunch and now I'm off out with Rosie while there is still some sunshine.10 -
Christmas is now back in the loft and I've hoovered around. Dusting though can wait until tomorrow between work shifts.Spend less now, work less later.10

Evening, all and condolences to Narco.
I was instructed to work from home last week as soon as the first announcement was made, with the intention of calling me on Monday to discuss returning. At that point, I'd have been telling them I've been upgraded to CEV for the next couple of weeks following steroids, but I suppose events overtook them and they never got around to it. Guess they'll let me know when they have a moment to stop reacting to new instructions. I do think that the reporting positive cases email over the holidays was rather busy, however.
Fortunately, I'd already placed a couple of online orders before the announcements, so there's no danger of either us starving or having to put up with Himself's notions of what is an essential purchase (ie, no vegetables). I just have to remember to update them before the cut off point or I'll be inundated with unnecessary items gin. I've been carefully logging everything eaten since opening my smartwatch present (so that he sees I'm using it more than my pretty watch from last year) and am rather miffed at how low my calorie intake is for somebody so round.
The kitchen is alright, the bathroom OK, the showerroom awful, but I have
Removed seasonal tut and he has stuffed it up in the loft.
Cleaned the tops of the furniture said seasonal tut was cluttering up.
Watched my two little pots of Tete a Tete Daffs open on the bedroom windowsill.
Clean up after the fluffy wotsits knocked over my Spider and Aloe Vera plants.
Bitten my tongue about how pointless it is to put the spider plant on top of the boiler. No, the cat can't get to it up there. Neither can I, it won't like sitting on the boiler and it'll like the lack of water or any daylight even less. He can get it down in the morning before it turns brown and crispy.
We also appear to have acquired a fox behind the shed, as the daft cat scared it off this morning. I saw it there yesterday, but thought it was a one off. I like foxes, but not only does it explain exactly why the cat hasn't caught any mice recently, it also explains why the garden looks like a bomb's hit it and all my plants had disappeared on one side (it's where the mice usually make a dash for safety). I'm vaguely hoping that the concrete slab the shed sits on is deep enough to persuade it not to make a den underneath, as whilst I think cubs are brilliant, it would mean a spring/summer of not being able to open the back door without a vulpine visitor coming in after the cat food. And a lot of vegetables dug up. Oh, and my half hopes of finding a stray cat has decided to have her kittens behind there (thereby gifting me with at least one little black kitten in the process) are dashed for another season. Hopefully, it will move on after finding that the concrete is too thick to bother digging under.
Just waiting for Himself to find out from work what's happening now. He hasn't been given any shifts and there's supposed to be a big boss Zoom meeting going on right now. It doesn't feel as much of a break from the daily commuting when he's here all day, every day and doesn't believe that daily exercise is a good idea, especially if it involves travelling half a mile to a park rather than walking around the block looking at all the concrete, brick and more concrete in the rain.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll13 -
Took down all the decs, I find that really depressing as I love xmas. All in loft. Lounge thoroughly vacuumed.
Filled bird feeder.
Mr N is working his way down the admin list, including ringing the care home to discuss collecting MIL's things as clearly we can't go in. Fortunately they are happy to keep books, pictures, wheelchair and some clothes so we're glad they can benefit others. We were racking our brains to think what else was in the room.
Not sure if uni will consider me essential as there is an agency which does a limited assessment on line.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Hi all
Not really a bad day at work, I have been into the office because I needed to pick up some papers and make some plans with my assistant. Our new person starts on Monday and we are going ahead with this because we really need him on board and he will mostly work alone. He is happy with this, I just need to work out how to do his induction as safely as possible.
The bathroom is fairly presentable, I did a bit of a clean in there this morning, need to make sure recycling goes out first thing. Kitchen needs a final tidy before bed.
My anxiety levels are sky high, I am worrying about DH and his bad back, work, Covid, and just about anything else you can think of. This will pass, I am trying hard to just keep putting one foot in front of the other and moving slowly forward, that's enough for now.9 -
Narco , I am sorry for loss and my thoughts are with you & your family. I've only just read. It's lovely some of the things are being donated
Today I had to call in work again, luckily to swap my shifts. My tummy was in imense pain last night but I didn't want to go to out of hours. I went to drs today and they reckon it's gastroenteritis and maybe IBS?- got prescription
- went to onebelow
- deleted 1,000+ emails
- Scrubbed toilet
- vacuumed our bedroom
- brought the hubs some candy and danish biscuits (I brought him some for xmas but he accidently tipped them over so I replaced them)
- made bed , cleaned bedside top off; still need to do shelves but this is enough for one day
I hope everyone else is well x

Evening all
I’ve also been into the office. It looks like that will continue for at least part of my working week, as wfh isn’t workable 100% of the time to keep the business running. I can’t say that it’s been an easy day - pretty draining trying to keep a professional front up, especially when you get medical calls re DD during the day. My GP did call, though, to see if we were all ok. Bless him, but it nearly tipped me over the edge.Flying wise??? Just wm x 1 plus limited dailies. I have also booked an online shop with Mr M for 2 weeks time ( I could have got sooner, but am trying to seriously cut back my spending), so until then it is the freezer and cupboard stocks to conjure up meals. We won’t starve for sure, however strange some of the combos might end up being.Hugs, especially to Valli, ASB, YL and Narc0 x11
