Very very sensibly justified. The shop was in error, not you, Jackie. I was once told the computer price was the correct one, but I got the manager to come and look at the displayed price. My heart was thumping in case it had been changed while I was at the checkout!
Keep safe and all best wishes for your operation.7 -
@Jackie_O - Not mean at all, I'd have done the same. I add up in my head (to the nearest penny) as I go along so have a good idea of what I'll be paying and, if it doesn't seem right, check the receipt before I leave the shop. It's surprising how many times overcharges happen, not always intentional I know, but it is the principle and for anyone on a fixed limited income every penny counts these days.
Weekly Co-op trip today combined with more minimising. I'm taking a bag of soft plastics for their bin, one item for the food bank box and two more paperbacks for the Little Free Library - just two left and they'll be gone next week.

You were completely correct. I remember once querying a price at the till and was told it was an error. I pointed out that I had only wanted to purchase the item at the price I saw so the supervisor was called. She agreed it was the shops error so I had the item for the price I had seen.
I'm sure there used to be a rule in the sale of goods act that stated something similar as well

In California, the law is that the posted price is what counts and if the price is rung up in error, you are supposed to be given $4 off your order or the item free if it is under $4. Stores even have signs posted. I would definitely complain - money is very tight for some of us. I have had to several times here as one store used to overcharge quite often.9

No, I don't think you were being mean (in either sense of the word) - 'the price was in the wrong place' is not your fault.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Today I minimised my holiday washing - everything (apart from one skirt to be hand washed) has been washed, dried, folded & is ready to be put away. Also mended 6 pairs of knickers, one pair of socks, 3 headbands & a t-shirt.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £116.00

A skirt to take in at the waist.I really like this skirt it is an M&S one I have had a couple of years and only wear it in the summer, but because I have lost so much weight over the past few months I was not able to wear it on holiday,so I must take it in this afternoon plus a nice grey cotton cardi that has a few threads on the wrist band that want stitching in
Only little jobs and they are top of my to-do list today.
I have to go to get dressing and drain changed this morning so it will be a job to be done after lunch.
Its daft, my appointment isn't until 09.15 this morning at Rochester, Wisdom Hospice, where the District Nurses are stationed, about 6 miles away, and when you go you have to book the hospital transport in advance and you have to be ready two hours before your due appointment. I am up with the birds this morning and have to be ready for 07.15 pick up.When I get there I then have to wait until after the appointment is done and dusted to book transport home again, and the wait can be another two hours depending how busy they are so my 20 minute appointment can wipe out half a day ! But hopefully only this week and next weeks appointment than no more fingers crossed as I shall have my operation the 1st August and the drain will be out after 29 weeks in my tummyI am so looking forward to being rid of the blessed thing. "Dora the Drain" will be gone at last
I'm slowly working my way through my books, and boy do I own a lot of books and every time I know I have to go near the precinct, the CS gets another 6 books from me I have literally an awful lot of books on my shelves that have to go.
Right enough of the blether I fell the kettle calling me, have a good day chums

Jackie, I hope everything went well this morning, and all goes to plan in the next few weeks.
Yes, I agree £1 for 16 paracetamols is way over the top and you were right to ask for your money back. I used to work in retail, and I believe the rule is that the price on the shelf is the 'offered' price. The shop does not have to accept the transaction, but neither do you. In other words, you don't have to accept the price they offer to sell an item to you at, and if it's different by the time you get to the till, the shop should explain why and then you decide if you want to buy it. Once you have left the shop, it's up to the manager if they will offer a refund, but I would certainly have made a huge fuss in the shop if I had been refused in your circumstances!🙂2025 Fashion on the ration

I have one tin that I use for storing sewing threads and another one for scissors, needles, pins, tailor's chalk etc but there are lots of other sewing notions scattered about the house. I've got them all out with the intention of having them in one box - perfectly possible I thought - but then remembered there's another box with heaven knows how many zips in it. That's what comes of saving everything for Justin.
I'll apply myself to going through it all this evening - anything I don't need/want will go in the CS bag. They have a shelf for crafting materials so I know they'll be welcome.
Today I've made some Yorkshire parkin so that's a few more baking cupboard bits minimised. Just need to be patient now for a few days to allow it to go 'sticky' before eating. I know it's traditionally for Bonfire Night but there's no law says you can't have it any other time!Mince pies also fall into this category. Mmm, we haven't had any of those for while so they might feature in the next baking session.

YorksLass, I also have a 'Justin' in my house. My youngest grandson Mikey says ,and I quote
" If Nan hasn't got it ,its just not made " The times I have had frantic texts or phone calls saying "Nanny do you have ? could be anything from spare old shoe laces for conkers or something totally out of the ordinary
I did manage to donate my card crafting stuff to my youngest granddaughter Holly for her class at her school and I had a lovely card made by the 6 years olds with all their names on saying 'Thank you to Miss Stagg's Nanny for letting us have all her card and decorating stuff.' Holly said they really enjoyed all the bits and pieces I used to go to a class and had so much stuff that it almost filled the boot of her car. Didn't seem to leave much of a dent in my room upstairs but I'm now working on my bookshelves and finding homes for them, as I read the ones I haven't read before I make a lie and pass them on to friends or the local charity shop.
