Dh used one of the shelves from our old IKEA shoe rack to make an extra half depth shelf in the top of the airing cupboard. I used to have to stand on a stool to reach it but it was useful for linen for the spare bed and beach towels10

I've also made a significant dent in the yarn stash - two sweaters for DH, four for me (two ready to wear, one knitted but still to sew up and one a WIP on the needles).I've decided not to carry on with the WIP because, for some unknown reason, it doesn't look "right" so that yarn has been returned to the stash.
Oh well, it will get used at some stage.
We had the combi boiler serviced last week, a couple of minor things needed attention but all good now. I suppose I could count that as a "mend".
Next week I shall be in the kitchen a fair bit as I will be making various things for Xmas - mince pies, sausage rolls, stollen, mini cheesecakes and chestnut stuffing. I have all the ingredients so that will minimise the store cupboards and save some pennies.
Hairdressers last week for a much needed trim and to put some shape back in, so hair and purse minimised (I save a little each week for it so a planned expense). Pleased it's done though as I'm fully expecting another lockdown soon; maybe not for Xmas but possibly NY - I really hope I'm wrong.
Xmas cards written/posted, just a couple of presents left to wrap then I'm done. Apart from the baking, good clean round the house, put up tree and decs, last minute shopping etc etc that is!Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Hi Peeps season greetings,
I just about managed to get Christmas at ours, I was saying no to a real tree again. Last year it just felt right to not to. This year I backed out of this self arrangement and even ended up spending a lot less on it than I was prepared to. Having said that I have a new way of doing this again next year.A Definite make do!
Minimise - this was not in clutter but very MSE saved on the tree and having my hair being cut at the barbers. Money minimising is what this is about right!
Mending - not much going on at the moment
Enjoy Christmas and the New Year
Stay safe

The most expensive shoes (mens) I ever bought which cost me £40 knocked down from £80 in a sale I repaired when the leather tore on both sides of one shoe just above the stitching around the sole. I bought shoe makers' thread, needle and glue on Ebay and along with a piece of leather from an old shoe I maanaged to do an almost invisible repair which has lasted over a year now. I learned saddle stitching in the process.16

Put all the wrapping paper, unused cards & present bags back out in the shed.
Made a bookmark for my friend's birthday tomorrow, using tapestry thread & fabric from my stash. Have an idea for another present for a birthday next month too.
Over 20 years ago, I received 2 large ornate candles for my birthday. At the time I felt they were too nice to use, but decided this year to use them up & clear them out. Thought I'd light one Christmas Day, the other New Year's Day. I lit the first one as soon as I got up Christmas Day, & burned it until I went to bed, then re-lit it Boxing Day. Now on day 4 of lighting it & not quite halfway down it! Wonder if it'll last until after 1st Jan?!Use it up, wear it out

Do you have a photo of the bookmark? I'd love to see it. It sounds like your candles will last all winter!2025 Fashion on the ration

This is one I made a while back. The one this week said 'We should've worn our WELLIES!!!' in different shades of blue, with a blue ribbon bow & a button at its centre, instead of the cross-stitched bee, then backed in white fabric with tiny blue rosebuds on it
Use it up, wear it out
