I am 2/21 for yesterday please cathybird. Thank you.
I was going to have a drink this evening to celebrate having my Covid jab today; but I've been told that it's advisable to refrain from alcohol for a while before and after the jab. Before is not a problem, I haven't had a drink since mid February, but it's my birthday on Saturday and I had planned to have a drink. What to do 😕.

Really? No one told me that.🙉 Happy Birthday when it comes marahouti. My birthday is the following Friday. It'll be the first family 'celebration' where we haven't been lucky to escape the most stringent lockdown. Last year we just crept under the wire for our birthdays. This year it seems a picnic might be an option for me! 😁marahouti said:I was going to have a drink this evening to celebrate having my Covid jab today; but I've been told that it's advisable to refrain from alcohol for a while before and after the jab. 😕.

I had my jab and took the opportunity to ask the nurse. Apparently it isn't 'official' advice. It is true that heavy drinking affects the body's immune response but everyone, whether they drink a little or a lot, benefits from having the vaccine. A birthday drink is highly unlikely to affect the vaccine's efficiency and if I feel like a drink this evening I can 🙂. I'll see how I feel.marahouti said:I was going to have a drink this evening to celebrate having my Covid jab today; but I've been told that it's advisable to refrain from alcohol for a while before and after the jab.
