Thank you @maggiem. I did manage to get through yesterday AF. Let my wife relax and I did all the cooking/tidying up/cleaning. Kept me busy and away from people without being rude. I’d spent all the afternoon struggling with the cravings knowing it would do me no favours at all but my brain is still convinced I ‘need’ it. Same for drink tbh last night I knew had I not just kept busy I’d have had a drink and was in the frame of mind for it to be destructive. Absolutely exhausted this morning, my mental health is really quite poor rn. Son wanted to the meditation together so we did. I just wish he had a better dad than me tbh.4

Good plan!

No. Not all the brain. The bit that does you are now beginning to control. Yeah!

You can still be that great dad! Don't let the past ruin your future, it's gone and you can't change that. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!7 -

9/26 for me today please.
Alt, I'm reading a book at the moment where one of the main characters is struggling with alcohol addiction and there's a couple of phrases that might help:
Keep your head where your feet are (as in: keep your mind present)
Play it forward (as in: imagine the disastrous end of the story if you give in to a craving)
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?5 -
I'm sure your son doesn't see it your way @alt80. He obviously enjoys doing the meditation with his dad. Enjoy that. 😊
8/10 AFDs please @cathybird6 -
5/11 please cathybird 👍😁3
