My late mum was the only person I've come across whose hair darkened (naturally) the older she got! Even when she was 80+ in her nursing home with dementia, her hair looked like that of a much younger woman. It went from light brown to verging on black without any intervention whatsoever.....Debt free and Keeping on Track6 -
Weather is glorious here today. I'm making the most of it, just had a walk around the village and picked up a few bits and pieces. Now I'm sat in the garden with my laptop and a coffee.Debt free and Keeping on Track5

My Champagne moment today was getting some of the links in the wristband of the new gold plated watch I had bought for my son's 21st birthday taken out at the shoe menders, so that the wristband will fit him. I had it sized to my own wrist, as his wrist is only slightly smaller than mine. The shoe mender let me off £1 of the price, which was an added bonus.8

Hope everyone had a good weekend and that the sun's shining wherever you are 😄
Lots of free champagne moments here....
After six months of navigating a slightly dangerous entrance to our bedroom, yesterday DH finally moved the pipes so the floor could be lowered as well as widening the doorway to normal size....yay!
Today it's sunny and warm, the first rose has opened in the garden where everything is starting to look so much better, I've made a huge tart 😉 using leftover strawberry jam and succeeded in moving a massive sofa on my own from the old extension into the snug as we're going to be starting work in there next (during June, hopefully!)....
Now I'm taking a break from planting, chilling with my book for a while in the egg 😎
Bluebells and persicaria on the rockery this morning....Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Good Morning my lovely friends.Phoebe your garden looks really pretty, all your hard work is paying off.
sugarbaby......glad you had such a lovely time with your family. We love quizzes here too, in fact my eldest son keeps threatening for he and I to apply to go on Pointless 😱😂.Well it's been a bit hit and miss here.....
I had a bit of a "widows blip" for a couple of days, where I felt a bit low. I think a mix of bad weather, a fibro flare up, Covid blues and the fact that it's the run up to the 7 year anniversary all conspiring together to send me into the doldrums. Anyway I had a couple of lazy days, reading, watching Netflix and now I'm fine again. I've learned not to try and resist it when I get hit by a wave of grief but just to ride it out and go with the flow. Fighting it only makes it worse. Anyway I'm back to my cheerful optimistic self. 😁I think I have been helped by the fact that my business has really taken off.My champagne moments this week have been mainly business related. It has somewhat taken over my life this week but that's all to the good. My items have so far have sold really well and I'm getting some very good reviews and feedback. I have definitely undersold on some things but I wanted a few quick sales to kick start the proceedings so I concentrated on some lower priced bits and pieces and priced them very competitively. I wanted to build up a good profile and become an established seller and build up customer confidence in me before I tried selling more expensive makes and the more rare vintage items. It seems my strategy is working......my treasures are selling like hot cakes and I've been really busy. 💃.Selling online has been a learning curve, especially trying to get to grips with the technology side and learning about shipping etc. I am Just sticking to U.K. - not going global yet!!! lol. But, I'm really enjoying it and growing in confidence. It's fun and I think it's good for me to have something to sink my teeth into. It's not going to make me rich but it's lovely to know that I can build up a little sideline business with something I really enjoy doing. I can boost my income a little without having to go back to "proper work". No commuting and I can just go at my own pace. And Of course it's something I can do for as long as I wish. The beauty of doing your own thing and "being your own boss" is there's no ageism in the workplace. The fact that I'm pushing 70 is irrelevant. I can do this for as long as I'm able, no one can push me out or make me feel outmoded or that I'm too old and doddery to be employable. (Which is what has happened to a couple of my friends). Ageism is one of the last bastions of "isms", especially in the workplace......😡but being your own boss circumvents that. Apparently "seniorpreneurs" are quite the thing nowadays.......😉. A growing tend.
Anyway......time for breakfast.Have a great day y'all.11 -
I'm happy people on here are having some champagne moments.
I haven't been doing anything that exciting with things opening up. A trip to Boots yesterday and then to Starbucks today to get a takeaway iced green tea latte after I got my steps in. It's quite warm and sunny today so I didn't feel like a hot drink.
I did buy some new sunglasses from Peacock for a fiver this morning. I haven't been in that store for years but they looked like they had some nice clothes. Nicer than I remembered.
I want to join the library as I wanted to go to the book group they run there. I am going to a local meet-up group I read about too. I want to start becoming more involved with people around here. I thought that during lockdown as I don't know that many people around here, apart from my in-laws. I'm interested in doing some volunteering too. I'm going to wait until two weeks after I have my second Covid jab to join up.
I am looking forward to my night out on Friday. I wore my green boots to see if they are comfortable. They aren't so I might be tempted to get an uber on my way home.

What a lot of champagne moments - and Sugarbaby, your purchases continue to impress! LL so glad to hear that your business is doing so well - and everyone else is cracking on with jobs, haircuts, charity shops and getting out and about!
Glad you've been inspired by the Miracle Morning LL - I have not done so well on it the last few days. I have not wanted to get out of bed - except Saturday, when I didn't have to go to work....go figure
I'm determined to keep going though for the next few weeks at least. For those who would like a bit more information, the actual routine is that you rise an hour earlier than normal (5.30 for me), and then have a set routine of 6 different things that you do for 10 minutes each. The acronym SAVERS sums it up - Silence, Affirmations, Visualisation, Exercise, Reading and Scribing. It does feel a bit awkward, yes, doing affirmations and visualisation, but I've found some playlists on Spotify that help me to focus. I've learned a few things about myself - I have rediscovered my love of reading, which is now no longer consigned only to bedtime. I actually sat and read for 15 minutes earlier tonight - unheard of! I have found the scribing (writing) part one of the most difficult to do, which amazed me as I do enjoy writing. What I think it is, is that I am learning to bare my soul, which I find difficult (facing all that tricky stuff deep in your mind...). I have realised that I do not need a coffee first thing - and it does me good when I have lemon and hot water instead. And when I do it right, I feel amazing. And 'right' means getting enough sleep - which is still a challenge as I tend to wake up in the evenings. I have even started using an hour before starting work (in my home office) to pick up work on my blog, which has been sadly neglected for months. So all round I can thoroughly recommend that if you are interested, you give it a go. If you are not interested, or it's outside your comfort zone, I would probably recommend even more that you give it a go - as we all need to try new things!
On the champagne front, my sister has had amazing luck buying a 'retro' drinks trolley for £20 and doing it up - it looks wonderful. I asked her to find one for me (she lives in a part of the country with amazing secondhand shops) and she sent me a picture today of a wooden one for £10 - so I asked her to buy it for me! She's visiting at the end of the month and will bring it with her - and it will become one of my projects

Hi, Going back a few days to talk of colours of clothes. Years ago I was on a walking holiday in Turkey at a yoga retreat. One day I had on a bright orange t-shirt and someone on the walk mentioned that not many people can wear bright orange. As this baffled me I asked for more information and she said she was a colour consultant for a major retailer. Anyway we all ended up sitting on a yoga platform, we all brought some clothes of varying colours and sat in front of a mirror. The results were amazing, Out of 18 people only myself and one other person could wear bright orange. I have always avoided green clothes and when I put them on in front of the mirror you could see the colour drain from my face and I actually looked ill. Seems like it is a science to some degree. Most of us have probably already worked this out for ourselves but it was fascinating to see what happened with each person as certain colours were draped around them.9
