Hope everyone had a lovely, relaxing bank holiday weekend and that the changeable weather didn't get in the way of your plans?!?
We crammed in visits to three local, independent garden centres on Saturday and at the third we had a champagne moment when we found a suitably sized standard bay tree that was not only far bushier than the one we'd almost bought at the first, but was also £30 cheaper 😉
That last place had some truly amazing, ginormous trees if it's instant garden gratification you're after, including fabulous 'cloud' olive trees at £1k a pop! We came away from that place with huge tree envy, lol 🤣
In addition we picked up a few verbena bonariensis to replace those we lost over winter. At four for £20 they were well worth buying.
On our return my delivery from Claire Austin was waiting....lots more healthy plants for the white bed, which we almost succeeded in finishing over the weekend.
I totted up what we've spent on that bed alone (including the oak sleepers etc)....£1151. Gulp!!! It's going to look lovely though 😃
On Monday we had the awful weather that was forecast so - tempted as I was to throw in the towel and head to Homesense - we got on with stuff inside and now I have a fully plastered upper hallway....yay!
Plans for this week include finally ordering the flooring and making a decision on the amount of storage we can fit in.
Have a good week!

Sounds like cracking progress Phoebe.Well hello my lovely friends.....,I have been busy too. Finally made a start on the decluttering....with a vengeance. 😂. This time I am being ruthless. I want to get the top bedroom sorted, needs Insulating properly and then decorating, built in wardrobes etc. but before I can get the trades in I first need to shift an enormous amount of clutter/treasures. So it begins in earnest, having to pace myself though because the fibro has flared again. Never mind I've got a massage tomorrow so that should help.Anyway Two bags to the chazzers this Morning. Will probably fill another two today. I'll just store those in the car until the next drop off. Have also contacted the auctioneers, got some online valuations. Need to drop off a few items for auction next week. Progress at last.No clothes sales yet😟. Cheeky offer on one item but as she wanted me to ship to Florida I declined. 😂. However I have got a few watchers....🤞.Other than that not much news. Champagne moments are all of the quiet domestic variety......best one was I checked my blood sugar levels yesterday......almost normal. So my careful eating is paying off although I have just wolfed a pain au chocolate with my coffee. 😱. As long as it doesn't become a daily habit I should be ok. Just a once in a while treat won't kill me,
Fully recovered now from the second covid jab. Another week or so till peak immunity, just in time for May 17th and the next lifting of restrictions. So looking forward to getting out and about again.11 -
My champagne moment today is that my son is coming home on Sunday for a few weeks. He has a week off work and then will work from home (as he has been doing for over a year now). The beauty of it is, he can stay longer with us. Haven't seen him since Christmas.Debt free and Keeping on Track10

My parents (Mum is 85 and Dad is 80) have both been vaccinated twice now, so they should be safe. Mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has just had a mole on her leg removed, so we really want to visit and have decided to go for it on the Ascension Day weekend, which is a long weekend here in Belgium. We will leave Wednesday afternoon and return Sunday evening; it's a 4-hour drive, just me and DDs (10 and 12). We will shower before we get in the car, and still socially distance when we are there, and not interact with a lot of people while there (quite a few of my old friends live there). Husband has a company car with fuel card, so the drive won't cost us anything; we'll be staying at my parents', so that's free, too; they will provide food (they insist); we will go to a supermarket on our way back home, as Dutch prices are so much lower than Belgian prices (working on my shopping list right now).

Siebre.....your trip sounds great, although sorry to hear about your mums diagnosis. My family and friends live mainly around Ghent. Hopefully I will get the chance to visit soonish but realistically i don't think it will be this year. Hope you have a lovely visit and plenty of time with your mum.Just dropped another two bags off at the chazzer. It's still rather chilly here so maybe some more decluttering rather than gardening today. Hopefully it will start warming up again soon. All this decluttering is very liberating, I feel lighter and brighter already. Still got a long way to go though.......😉8

I am decluttering at the moment too. We are dropping some stuff at the tip on Saturday. My husband has his second jab on Sunday.7
