Morning all well no snow and a thick frost dog is just about to be walked heating is on and i have a cuppa so all is good . I too will be changing the beds but no washing tomorrow as we need all the luck we can get without washing it away . I have this year ordered some grazing platters for tonight they will be delivered later we would have had take away with friends so blow the expense . It is going to be a positively balmy 2 degrees here by lunchtime so i am definitely up for the spa tonight DH has just bottled his gooseberry wine so i will bring a crate of that with me and i have a large tub of salted caramels from Costco that i can chuck in . Ruby fingers crossed for the dressing change and your family are in my thoughts I would also like to thank each and everyone of you for your friendship and support this year we have all had some laughs and tears along the way but we have made it through what has been a difficult year I can only hope that 2021 brings us some better brighter days and lastly i would just like to wish you all a happy and safe New Year xxx
Good morning all and a very Happy New Year from a lurker/occasional poster.
Less frost on the ground this morning but I heard the boiler come on around midnight so the temperature obviously started dropping then.
Today is a bit of a groundhog day; I'll be going out for a walk this morning and then probably cosying up indoors for the rest of the day. One load of washing is in and I could clean the bathroom if I felt like it.
My regular music sessions start back next week so I've had to chose 2 tunes to play for one of them; better start running them through so I don't make a mess of things. Other than that my knitting of squares for charity blankets continues; luckily someone else is happy to sew them up as I find that the boring part.
Sorry to have been missing for a few days, (what do you mean, you hadn't noticed!) the days after Christmas always seem to be dead days to me. Actually, the days OVER Christmas seemed like dead days to me this year. And the days over the New Year aren't looking too promising either. I usually go to bed with a good book on New Year's Eve and wake up to a new year. I find that the calendar works without any help from me. However, if there is going to be a party at Nels...................I had a fantastic cheese hamper for Christmas so can throw in a bit to go with whatever nibbles are around. Gin flavoured Cheddar anyone?
Hope the dressing goes well Ruby.
Whatever 2021 brings it can't be worse than 2020. Surely not!
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH gone to work, I'm showered, dressed and had some brekkie, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Very cold and frosty start to the day - doesn't look like it will warm up much either.
Dinner last night was chicken in a sauce, roasted baby potatoes, carrots and broc. Tonight I have a joint of gammon to cook and will serve it, will some hot rolls, cheese, hot new potatoes, salad - anything I can pull out of the fridge. We'll just have a night in front of the tv/on the computer - whatever suits.
I spent some time yesterday doing some planning for the New Year - shopping, menu planning and financial planning - debts/savings etc.
Keep safe and well x
Happy New Year, lets hope things start to improve and we can all start to move forward - even if it's slow progress x
Whatever 2021 brings it can't be worse than 2020. Surely not!
Uh oh...you said it...you just gave the all clear for flying monster aliens with ten foot fangs, or the zombie apocalypse,or yellowstone blowing up,or or or or or.....
So before the monsters with ten foot fangs turn up,morning all! I hadn't even thought about something special to eat and drink tonight until I just read everyone being splurgey and nice to themselves. I fear I may have to up my game. Cheese, antipasti, salami and nibbles it is then. Along with the one bottle of prosecco I bought two years ago and have never opened because there wasn't a celebration worth having yet. I think it's definitely worth toasting goodbye to this year though in a thank-god-its-over kind of way.
Cold here, shinily frosty, and I can hear next door banging the hell out of everything as they clean. I won't be joining them, it can wait. Besdies, no point when the tree will throw off a few more needles or at least that's what I'm going with. Another lazy day for me while i try to make sense of waffle stitch in crochet and unpick my work another twenty times...I could have picked something a bit easier to learn I suppose but no pain no gain...
Hope you all have a day of whatever you fancy, thanks for all the laughs over the year and the chats I'll see you next year for more hopefully...and less of the bad stuff ...
Morning all, it's still -1 here, I'm wrapped up in my fleece blanket and I've got the heating and the fire on ! I just can't seem to warm up. On the plus side my back feels a bit better this morning and I managed some sleep, but that could be from the amount of painkillers I took, probably enough to take down an elephant
Nothing much doing here today except a bit of tidying up and running the stick cleaner over the lounge. Later I will lay the table for lunch tomorrow and prep the veg. Hopefully Dad will be over for the day tomorrow as his car is now purring like a kitten. We still have a few lot of films recorded so we'll watch some of them this afternoon. I only got round to watching the xmas Bake Off and Lampoons christmas vacation last night
I'll probably be up to see the New Year in, I don't go to bed till midnight most nights anyway and I definitely want to see the back of this year. As her Maj says it's been a "Annus Horribillis" for most people, so I'll raise a glass to all my friends on here who have all been through thick and thin with me. My thanks go to everyone here for their support as even the daily chats of mundane tasks have keep me sane. However the chats of cleaning windows hasn't spurred me into that task yet
So I want to wish everyone, new posters and old, those MIA and just lurkers/ occasional posters
A Happy New Year all And a Better 2021
Nelski I'm on the decs doing a sound check as we speak. Don't worry about the breaks, I've got that covered with a pre-recorded set of tunes. I will need a stool however, my back's not right yet. I've still got a box of unused party stuff, hats and florescent necklaces/bracelets, so I'll bring those. Oh! and I've got some boxes of party food in the freezer that we can nibble on too.
Take care all, stay safe and well
Lots of love, nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

I wonder if the no washing to be done on New Year’s Day is a Scottish tradition? I’ve always believed it to be bad luck. I know Jackie O’s mum was Scottish. Can you please pass on my best wishes to JO if you’re still in touch? Thanks so much all for the lovely Daily. I feel I’ve got to know you over the years and it’s always lovely to see new friends too. Wishing the very best for 2021. I’ll be raising a wee dram to you all this evening. X
