Morning all
Up early as dressing change again this morning hopefully it wont be too much longer that I have to do this, although I had a very sore day yesterday and could not get comfortable all day so will ask him to have a good look to check its all ok, it might just be part of the healing but I dont want another infection to set in.
We are going to stop at M & S after the hosp and get a few nice bits for dinner tonight, we already have smoked salmon and prawns but I want to get a nice loaf and a few treat bits as no one can go out and celebrate, maybe we could have a virtual OS party with Nan on the decks unless Nels has one of her famous pals lined up ?? I shall bring some nibbles and champagne.
Will get the others to have a clean through today and do any washing needed, I think it was Jackie O who said its bad luck to do washing on New Years Day so I never do it now, really dont need anymore bad luck.!!
Bella thinking of you xx
Marie I hope all is ok xx
Have good days all xx19 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting Ruby. It's absolutely bitter this morning with thick frost brr.Ruby, I'm glad that your op sites are healing, you are doing really well, going for 2 mile walks, excellent. We aren't doing much today, the freezer is full and I've got bread and veg, I don't think i need anything. We may go out for a walk, though it'll be treacherous walking, it was yesterday - the frost didn't thaw yesterday in some places. I could see people going past our house walking very carefully, our street is quite busy, it's a route to the main shopping street in our little town, so there's always someone.Anyway i'll stop waffling on - thoughts to all those who are not well, and/or going through difficult times.Happy New Year everyone, and take care.18

just popping back to say though i'm wishing everyone "Happy New Year" I'm aware that some of us are facing diifficult times in our lives and the months ahead, but I thought I'd say it anyway, we can only hope.

Morning
Great plan ruby we can open the spa for a one night only special. I don't think we can better our nan on the decks but Ill hit my black book to find cover for her breaks
Smoked salmon and prawns here too later and no doubt some picking will go on during the day. Truth is I can't stand new year never have been able to and for the life of me I can find no reason to celebrate this one. maybe some fizz will change my mind later.
As usual nothing much planned so some netflix and snacks may be on the cards. Tier 4 here as expected but doesn't make any difference for me.
Have a good day all and party safely

Morning folks and thanks RUBY for starting us off. I've never heard that about doing washing on New Years Day! But my DB's late MIL (strict Methodist) once reprimanded me for pegging washing out on a Sunday! I felt like a naughty child!
This has to be the darkest morning yet and it's still blooming cold. The snow from Tuesday is still lying there waiting for someone to slip on it. Considering we haven't got above 1 deg all week, and it's forecast to remain so, it won't be melting any time soon. I did think I might pop in town this morning but now having second thoughts as it looks deadly.
Well amazingly we remain in Tier 3 up here in God's Own Country, but the only difference to me is that I will still be able to have the hairdresser visit when I need a trim! One day all this will end and now we have a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel at last.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of BELLA, RUBY and MARIE. Take care one and all and stay safe and sane. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"19 -
Morning
RedRuby i'm so glad you're healing well, I hope you have a more comfy day today xx Also pleased that you were out in the snow, even if it was for just a few minutes, lol.
Furlough, tier Four and another F word, which I said when the changes were announced yesterday! Mr and miss tru are now both off work again. Mr tru had to ring a few customers to cancel appointments and he brought a bit of work home to update financial things so invoices can be sent, so not a big rush to get things sorted. It was miss tru's day off yesterday, her shop had quite a checklist to get through the last couple of times they've had to close. They had more staff then and miss tru happened to be in both times so she organised everybody, lol. This time there were only two staff and they couldn't leave the shop floor so she was going to go in for a couple of hours. She didn't have to in the end, head office rang and said to close the shop early so they'd be safe as they worked.
Another F but I like this one – Frost! It's nice and sparkly out there, I'm looking forward to going out for a walk in it. I didn't realise just how cold it was yesterday, as I walked my hip got stiffer and stiffer, when I got home it was quite painful so I sat for a while. As I warmed up, the muscle relaxed and was fine again after a couple of hours. Extra clothes today, and a big dollop of Deep Heat before I leave the house.
We have plenty of party nibbles in the freezer – I was hopeful at the beginning of the month that we could still meet up with at least some people over Christmas – so we'll probably munch on some of those later, saves anyone having to cook. The only reason the oven will be turned on is for the part-baked bread. I think we'll probably end up in front of the telly for most of the day, lol.

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off Ruby, my fingers are crossed for good news today about your healing. No snow here yet but another hard frost on the cars. I've got a shopping slot booked for 9.30 so will pick up some things to tempt DM with. Then I've a delivery at 12 noon with the heavy household stuff.Yesterday the al fresco breakfast was blooming freezing and lovely at the same time. A cheese and ham toastie and hot coffee didn't taste any better for sitting in the car with the windows wide open but just chatting away did wonders for my spirit. 😀 The defrosting of my car took ages and ages, the ice was really thick in places. It doesn't look as bad this morning.🥰 huge thanks to everyone here for support, help and laughs in the past mostly awful year. Everyday tales of everyday folk doesn't cover the lifes, loves and losses all shared here. We've had deaths, births, new friendships and old ones strengthened. Some people are missing and missed, others are joining in and welcome.Whoever and wherever you are, I wish you a happy Hogmanay, all the best for 2021. I'll be raising my glass to you all though probably not at midnight!🥂🥃☕️18

Good morning everyone
Another very cold day here but I am very grateful for the central heating and also being in a terraced house so it never gets absolutely freezing. Been up a while again as it is payday so I wanted to actually do a budget and pay all my bills. I went through last months transactions and it was a real eye opener to how much of our money gets squandered on takeaways, lottery and other such nonsense. I vow to do a lot better next year.
We have shopping being delivered this morning but it is mostly fruit, veg and other basics. We have all had enough of rich food for a little while so I am going to be making soups for lunches as it is something I can get on with in the morning while I have the energy. I am also going to take it in turns to cook our evening meal especially as I want to try out the new recipes in my new Pinch of Nom cookbook.
I am going to keep it short today as I am in desperate need of a cup of tea. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Cold and frosty again but lovely and dry. I had all the windows and doors open for an hour yesterday while I did the housework, it was quite fresh but lovely to have some fresh air in. Washing just about dried outside too, the line is in a little sun trap, it smelled lovely when it came in. That's Christmas packed away for another year, no doubt I'll find something christmassy lurking and will have to go and find the boxes again!
Hope all's well at the dressing change RR.
I'm in for the spa Nels, get those toons sorted Nan!
I'm going to meet DS1 and the DGC halfway between our homes later to bring the DGC back here for a couple of days while he has a rest, he's either at work or has the children which he doesn't mind but I always worry that he doesn't get any time to himself. He's seeing someone which I'm really pleased about, hope she doesn't turn out to be another nutter!!
Well, after 5 weeks one of my parcels turned up in the Netherlands, would be good if the others arrived too but at least this is the one with the most expensive item in. Will have to cancel my claim from RM.
Thanks for another year of chat, highs, lows and laughs friends. Have a very Happy New Year. Take care. XX16 -
Good morning, another bitterly cold day and a very hard frost. I didn't go out yesterday as OH said it was quite slippery and I think it will be the same today. We live in a bit of a dip, not much flat walking - not massively hilly, just enough to make it dicey in the icy bits.
RR good to know your healing is going well.
We are not planning anything for this evening, I don't feel very celebratory and am not massively fond of NYE at the best of gimes. We are in tier 4, which I expected. I will put on fresh bedding, I like clean bedlinen for the new year, not that it is actually dirty. If the spa is open Nelski, I could perhaps join you, I do have my Christmas present gin unopened (haven't quite finished last year's one) so I could lug that along plus I make a good lemon cake.
This year has been strange and disorienting and I have had little of interest to say but I do want to thank you for your companionship and to pay tribute to the unending support that us offered here when people struggle and when bad things happen. I hope the 2021 might be a better year, or at least that we can manage through it.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15
