edinburgher said:@Greying_Pilgrim - ........ some of the low L1dl prices are false economies if you have to buy twice.
We did also buy some of the 'wonky pears' from MrAl - at LG's request 😁 - and they have been a boon for....... 65p?...... and have actually ripened in the fruit bowl!

Good Evening!
Well, today was a LSD. DH took a (short) list to MrL and i have 57p change from the £5 I supplied him with
The parental rung today and asked me if I would re-start doing their shopping again. I don't know if they have been advised by their Dr to shield (I think they should, but what do I know?). Anyway, we'll do it. edinburgher will be delighted to know that it will take me into the hallowed halls of MrM, so I can be exposed to a different set of offers from my normal suppliers of; MrL, MrAl, and h0me bargins! 😊 To be fair, if I go there (don't normally, it's not on a 'route' that we use IYSWIM), i do generally keep an eye out for one or two products that they sell either cheaper, or are really good quality. I USUALLY (watch me put my foot in it!) find that MrM eggs are pretty good and are competitively priced. Champagne and Salmon will not be finding their way into me basket tho.....😉
The soup turned out OK (would have been better with lemon than lime, but necessity and mothers of invention etc.......) and given that the weather seems to have gone colder this arvo, it was just the job.
I managed to line dry some more washing, although I was a bit disappointed that it didn't seem to dry as much as yesterday's load, despite a breeze today. A combination of being slightly wetter (perhaps) when put out, plus it was colder today, is probs to blame.
We got out for some much needed exercise, change of scene and breath of (very) fresh air today. I was delighted that LG actually wanted to extend our route and made a suggestion to go home (from where we were) via a different route. Sometimes it has been difficult to get LG out of the house for 'lockdown walks', so I appreciated their co-operation, and indeed, enthusiasm today 😍
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
1) sufficient soup that was tasty, low cost and filled a tum
2) getting out and moving - have to make this a priority, it makes such a difference.
3) that we have a computer and broadband connectivity - even if it is steam driven, second-hand and prone to quirky malfunctions......🙄
Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

Good Morning!
Heck, have we had a ropey start to the day already........ What with illness over c'mas (non cvid related), and possibly unconcious stresses and strains in the household for a good few weeks (related to the house sale and general 'living' in uncertain times......) LG's behaviour and sleep patterns have started to leave alot to be desired 😔 This morning has been no exception, after a late-night last night............
We're gonna have to take a deep breath and have a reset..........
Today's tea will be Tofu curry, lentil dhal and rice. I have 2 recipes for the curry - neither of which I have made before - so will have to decide which way to go. I think they both involve tofu and coconut milk, and it's just a matter of different spicing. unfortunately I have no lemons or limes and as I type this, I'm wondering whether I would be better off making the curry tomorrow, after my excursion to MrM 🤔 mmmm, watch this space, tea might be a moveable feast......
Today should be a NSD.
Right, I'm away to consult my meal-planner to look for wiggle room and to be the best parent to LG I can be for today. One step at a time.

Good Evening!
The end of a good day for us - I am pleased to report. Not much happened, but nothing went wrong neither, so i'm taking that as a win 👍 It was also a NSD 😁
Tea was absolutely stunning........ <insert tongue-in-cheek-smiley-here>. i mean, it was the epitome of 'from scratch'.... NOT 😉 I did peel the tatties and mash 'em myself <accepts medal for 'services to the food industry' 😎> but other than that, it was a case of opening the fish finger box, opening the bag of Lindy mcKartKnee's 'veggie scampi bites' (50p a bag in h3r0n) and using the tin opener on the mushy peas 😁 As you'll gather, I'm pausing the curry until tomoz, when I should be able to get some citrus supplies.
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
1) the absolutely amazing thing that is individual snowflakes - they were stunning in their uniqueness
2) For LG's willingness to participate in a nice long walk to stretch our legs and get out and about - even though it was cold (and it was cold 🥶) but goodness, it WAS wonderful to m.o.v.e
3) for a text 'convo' with a chum - good to have an adult to 'chat' with, during the day 😉
Ta for popping by.

Glad you had a good day Greying. I also managed a walk today and it was a lovely cold, sparkling day.
Lindy McKartKnee made me laugh, but what an absolute bargain5 -
Good Morning!
Well, that's DH delivered to work and the parental's shopping done. Thank goodness for early door opening! I shall have to don me hi-vis and deliver later. Soooooooo much to do this morning 😕
Anyhoo, I got some 'wonky' lemons. Didn't think they were too bad for 59p for 4 - however, my chit will be winging it's way to ed if they go mouldy....... 😉😁 <joke>
So tofu curry is on tonight - have 2 recipes to decide from. What's the betting they both need lime......🤔😂 Accompaniment will be carrot dhal (we still have a 'stash') and steamed rice.
Think today counts as a LSD - I spent £6 + a few pence in the supermarket, and I remembered i have forgotten the TV listing mag. Will get that this arvo.
Had a check yesterday to see if I've missed any property that has come onto the market within our (notional) budget, but there wasn't anything worth pursuing.
Can't think of owt else vaguely MSE/MFW so best shift-a-tail-feather.
Ta for reading.

Good Morning!
Well, yesterday went down-hill. Best gloss over and move on, as I suspect we're in for more of these as lockdown progresses. There were - of course - plenty of opportunities for gratitudes, so it wasn't all pants, but i hate reducing days to 'just to be got through'......
Needless to say, the tofu curry didn't happen...... again.......🙄 I ended up making lentil bolognese from a (HM) bolognese sauce out of the freezer with a tin of green lentils (MrAl - 49p), plus i padded it out with a smaller frozen (HM) portion of lentil bolognese. All heated up, combined and served with fusilli pasta. Please dunna dob me in to LG as to the v.a.s.t. amount of veg that is whizzed up and hidden in mumma's 'special' bolognese sauce....... 😉 At least it is a tea that we all eat, so I only have to make 'one' lot of and divide it by 3 😁
Tea this evening will be black olive pizza and wedges, since I'm reclaiming Friday as 'Pizza Friday' - no fear of double portions and obesity concerns for LG 😁
I didn't get the TV mag yesterday in the end - I didn't realise that MrAl had gone out of selling papers and magazines? Perhaps it is a local thing, as this branch is only a small one, but there weren't any other shops local to where I was, so it will have to wait until tomorrow and go in with the weekly shop. Hopefully today's exercise excursion will enable us to swing by the post office to deposit a cheque (parental shopping).
Right, best get dressed and shift-a-tail-feather.

Good Morning!
How's everyone doing? Well I hope.
We're having a bit of a roller-coaster, I won't lie. But now that even 'celebs' are admitting that they are struggling, and the press is full of reports of 'over-zealous' application of rools..... It's difficult to see where a 'happy place' can be found. If we are no longer allowed to leave the home for exercise, well then I think things are going to go downhill very quickly.
Grocery spending has come in at £36 for this week. Isn't it amazing how little you actually get for your money? There were no 'ready meals' in that spending - not even any 'larger components', so no frozen fish, no 'pork chops' or sausages etc etc. It will simply complement my store-cupboard and featured a couple of bits of fresh fruit and veg. I do have some frozen veg but will need to restock in the next week or 2.
I am finally going to make tofu curry tonight! The out-of-date tofu (which I did press 🤔) isn't covered in mould and smells OK (not actually a strong smell to it anyway, but it doesn't smell 'wrong' if that makes sense?), so use it I will! I will make the curry this morning so that the flavours have time to meld. I shall be serving with dhal and rice.
At least the sun is shining. I'm hopeful a line of washing may get a little bit drier if I put it out just now. I'll move the dry stuff off the airers to accommodate the newly washed stuff, later.
Thank goodness that we now get sKyart$ on freev1ew these days. There is a concert on tonight from one of DH's favourite singers. There is no way we could have afforded to attend the original concert - and whilst I know that the 'buzz' of attending a live music event cannot be matched, it will be nice to see and hear the concert - so I'm already grateful that it will be broadcast. DH deserves a nice treat.
Can't think of owt else that meets the criteria for MSE/MFW at the mo, so I'll shuffle orf.
