Morning all its a balmy day here. Regarding pancakes i was brought up with squeezed orange juice and a touch of sugar and really don't want anything else so I guess it may be what you had as a child that guides your tastes6

Our pancake adventure will definitely be savoury! Mainly because there is still 1/2 a cheap freezer cheesecake kicking around from Sunday! Our pancake endeavours will involve cooking up some mince & onion to stuff into pancakes, place in a baking dish and smother in béchamel sauce. Simple & cheap, though perhaps a bit too calorific! - reminds me of my Grandma's cooking as I can't ever remember her making a sweet version4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! What happened to pancakes with castor sugar & lemon juice?
6 -
Chocolate spread and sliced banana is my pancake topping of choice. Or bacon and maple syrup which is as savoury as pancakes get in this house. DD used to get more excited about making pancakes than actually eating them, but over the last couple of years she has got more into eating them as well.8

Good Morning!
Funny how I was listening to both the breakfast show, and drivetime show on R2 yesterday, and variously people were saying that they thought pancakes were a waste of time and they were going to have Yorkshire pudding and onion gravy instead, or several people wrote in to say they were having a savoury version (very like rt's). I think the Rev Kate would have liked tea at your house facethemusic 😊 A friend commented that they had visited the supermarket on Monday, and there was nary a mention of Shrove Tuesday.......
In our house it was granulated sugar and lemon, and whilst LG loved helping to make the pancake batter, they again, were underwhelmed with pancakes in reality. They said they didn't like the lemon, but when I gave them a piece of 'plain' pancake, they were equally underwhelmed........ I guess it's just not for them. I've tried them (previously) with the more 'american' style pancakes, but they dislike those sort too.
I ended up making Lebanese Gaspacho for tea last night, as the weather was milder than it has been to date. The soup is generally served at room temperature - I think mine may have been a little hotter, but it's a soup that will accommodate waiting/delay, so a reasonable one to have in your arsenal. I also 'thickened' mine with l/o cooked rice, as opposed to oats/breadcrumbs. But the MSE in you will recognise the thrift element to this soup! I also took the opportunity to boost the base of the soup by chucking in a couple of carrots and some celery before I blitzed it. I also used a shake or two of turmeric in mine.
I've slated lentil 'meatballs' for tea tonight, to use a morrocan-style jar of sauce that I got for not many pennies from h3r0n. It is a spiffy brand that costs quite a few pennies in the supermercados, so I wanted to try it out. I've had the jar in the cupboard for months. Been a goodly while since I've made lentil 'meatballs'.........Buck up your efforts Greying!
A couple of houses came on the market yesterday, but wrong areas for us. Also, one, which was affordable for us, but nearer to the lower end of our budget, was clearly marketed as 'Investment Opportunity'. It was in the wrong location for our needs, but it's clear we're in competition with FTB's and Investors..........
Right, LG has already started to ask, 'read me a story, Mummy', so best go and oblige 😊
Ta for popping by. Appreciated.

We did pancakes for breakfast this morning as I forgot yesterday! We tend to make American style ones so husband made them last night for reheating. We have them reasonably often usually but haven’t for a few weeks and so DS5 was delighted. But DD2 had obviously forgotten what they are and that she likes them and so there was a major tantrum re wanting weetabix. It is a bit of a “like it or lump it” situation at our house (though I always made sure there is something everyone likes on the menu, in this case banana). At dinner time they aren’t as hungry so often they do choose the “lump it” option but as they are starving at breakfast she quickly calmed down when she realised weetabix would not be forthcoming, and after a bite remembered she does in fact love pancakes 😂
I’ve taken two lessons from this - one, we’ve given her Weetabix too often the last couple of weeks and it’s now off menu for a bit, and two, maybe I should be giving them the challenging tastes at breakfast instead of dinner!!?Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Hello GP - thought I'd pop in to ask how you & the GP clan are doing & give you (and LG) a duckie update!
For two days running, I've sat at my desk in the mornings and watched out the window as Mr. & Mrs. Puddleduck explore all the bushes and hedgerows around the back field trying to find a suitable place to build a nest. Today, Mr. Duck sat himself in the middle of the field and hissed ferociously at the magpie, crow & pigeon who flew down to investigate his slumbering self. I've no clue what kind of behaviour that is, but it was well amusing! 😄4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Hi there GP. Hope things are ok with you and your family?
I absolutely loved This Fishing Life. Best programme on TV. Shame it's finished now. I live in Cornwall, but not near the sea. When I work shifts til 8 I nip into Mr T's to buy up all their reduced bargains. Managed to get ray wings for £1.08. They were delish. Also salmon which was turned into a yummy fish pie. Not had so many great bargains lately, but worth it for reduced bread alone.
Weather rubbish today, but windy enough for the washing even though it was hailed on once!!! Managed a run in between sun and showers.
All the best xxx6
