Land of leather Refund Issue.

So, they refunded our card in store, THEN a while later didn't a cheque arrive for the same amount in reply to our letter of cancellation. Normally we would have contacted a company to inform them of this, we are not dishonest, however, under the circumstances we left things as they were and thought it was their own fault. A case of the right hand not knowing what the left was doing. We never heard another thing so we were up a few hundred pounds. I would never take out an insurance again.
so you paid the cheque in knowing it was not your money?Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
Well, I went in the next day and put another request in writing,
They then decided to enlighten me to that fact that they normally process cancellations requests in one go which they have accumulated over a week or 2.
No one advised me this before, but anyhow I rang today and they told me it has been approved and that I should receive a cheque in the post in 7 or so days.
I won't hold my breath! but at least some progress has been made.0 -
Good news Millionaire. Keep an eye out for your cheque and be at them again if it doesn't arrive.

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you to :beer:
Hopefully it does arrive soon otherwise I will be going down again because a 2 1/2 week refund for a payment made by card is in my opinion not acceptable.0 -

They have told me that "due to Christmas post it has most likely been delayed. Give it another week":rolleyes:

I think simply because they want to earn interest on the premium while making sure you suffer to get your money back.0 -
Millionaire, Im in the rough ride with you mate. Im having the same experience with Beckton branch and believe me, my story is almost identical to yours that I now believe the staff are trained to deal with this problem. Here's a chain of events and actions I have taken to screw them up:
- 14/10/07 bought 3+2 recliners plus Platinum warranty (much to my wife's protest - should have listened to women sometimes);
- 24/11/07 received the sofa, all good it seems - thank God!
- 2/12/07 no cert received yet then went to LOL to collect carpet. Store had wrong color so had to return. Saw the same sofa for £200 lesser but free 1 seater recliner. (Huhuhu). Decided to cancel the warranty since it's £200 cheaper now. Expressed thought to receptionist and Manager in charge who demanded a written letter against my protest that it wasnt stipulated in the T&Cs that I agreed when I paid for the premium. Wrote the letter on site but forgot to get receipt acknowledgement or any name - being a novice still.
- Mid 12/07 i called up the branch but Manager to authorise the refund was on leave and left a note to call back the next day. No reply whatsoever so far.
-27/12/07 - googled up Land of Leather and shocked to see number of complaints and identical case on Moneysavingexpert. Called up branch and was told to write to HQ instead. Furious, wrote a letter with threat to bring them to Small Claims Court and highlighting they hd breached their own sales contract twice already. Handed in the letter and the Cert that I just received (dd 12/12/07) at the branch and was given a sweet promise that the refund would be processed this weekend and a workpaper mix up excuse. Wife was around to control my anger much to their luck.
2 things that perplex me:
i) they seemed to work at weekends when they couldnt get it authorised during the week, and the paper mix up excuse was not given when I called;
ii) the receptionist didnt bother to get the original copy of the letter/certificate and when I insisted, she said it's not going to make any difference.
Conclusion: Land of Leather seems to train their staff well enough to avoid refund requests. How annoying... I do feel like handing out leaflets on this experience to new customers right in front of LOL until they refund me.
Questions: Any more things that I should do beside calling up my credit card company to make them aware of this refund request?
Note: I have gone to record my complaints for further advice on Consumer Direct's website.0
