Another spender here: having been wearing the same running shoes for far too long, I have two pairs coming to pieces but found one replacement pair on Ebay. Another pair is needed as they can get too wet and muddy to dry before the next run during winter (no, I'm not Tough Mudding!).
I did see some nice hiking boots which I can live without because I wear trainers but these are calling my name. I know it's only wanting to be one of the gang when friends or family go on walks and someone will be kitted out with all the gear.
£15.20 but no coupons spent.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

@PipneyJane, yes they were. Not something I could run in but last January my favoured routes were either mud or ice and wearing boots set off a knee problem... so maybe I need those hiking boots.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hello again - was away in the lakes last week hence lack of posts.Laura - knickers definitely seem to be made of thinner jersey - the ones bought more recently are not lasting at all well. Need to try and find some decent ones.Does anyone have any recommendations for rewhitening yellowing sheets please. It's not a new sheet it was good quality flannelette originally but I must admit the cotton is only still brushed round the edges now but still a bit of life left in it.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons7

@skogar yes I noticed the knicker problem a while ago. I always used to buy them from m+s but I noticed the fabric wore thin quite quickly. I tried mrA and they last much longer. When my dniece was home during the summer she was also knicker shopping and said the same thing, in fact she had orders to take back mrA knickers for a few friends as well so it might be worth having a look there.7

And yes, knickers are getting ludicrously thin!
I hate chlorine bleach because of the damage it does to textiles, but for years I've used it warily a couple of times a year on tea-towels and suchlike because they start going that charming grey-yellow if not...
BUT...!
Last year My Intended accidentally bought the Ecover Bio liquid by mistake, and so since we had it I used it and even after one wash everything looked brighter... using it exactly as we always used previous detergents, it has continued to de-stain our clothing, bedlinen, household textiles.... without fading them.
I'm a bit evangelical about it, acksherly - it's extraordinarily good. And we use about half what we're supposed to use at that
M.I.'s handkerchieves when I moved in were a sorry collection of greying rags, having been shoved in the wash with his dark grey work-trousers and pale blue work shirts all these years... at least by using half a colour-catcher I was able to keep his new ones from going grim, but the old ones didn't really brighten up much even with chlorine bleach - but the Ecover Biological has cleaned them up a treat!
And no they don't pay me
It's this stuff https://www.ecover.com/products/laundry/concentrated-bio-laundry-liquid/
(btw, many people think there's something 'wrong' with using biological detergents, but a) there isn't, and b) if you use non-bio then you really need to use much higher temperatures; bedlinen and kitchen/bathroom textiles are done at 60-degrees anyway, but many people wash clothing now at 30 degrees or lower, and I would say using a non-bio at 30 degrees on a wash-load inc underwear is basically just going to spread the underwear's pathogen-load nicely across your washing... if you wash on very low temps, then wash undies separately - it's absolutely fine to wash undies on cold, no problem - I just wouldn't recommend washing knickers on a cooler temperature *with* other clothing...)2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@Laura_Elsewhere thanks for the tip about ecover, I will look out for it when I am next shopping for washing stuff. Weirdly my washing machine takes twice as long to do a wash on 30 than 40 degrees so I generally still use 40 degrees except for delicates etc. I have costed the electricity usage and it is cheaper to use the machine for half the time even with the extra heating required for the 40degrees.5
